Beach Towels

Hello everyone! We are first time cruisers and sailing on the Dawn in one week. Should we bring our own beach towels? I'm sure they provide some towels but we are thinking for our excursions (snorkel, swim with dolphins, scuba) it might be better to have our own towels? Any thoughts on this by more experienced cruisers?

We are sailing on the Norwegian Dawn.

Thanks for any advice you can lend! Susie

Some of the cruise lines, NCL being one are starting to require you to sign out your towels and if you loose them you will be charged $25.00. Believe me, they are not worth 25 cents. Princess does the same now. If you don't mind the extra bulk of beach towels I would bring my own. Do remember they take up a lot of room and are not light weight. With all the new weight restrictions you will have to decide for yourselves.

portergirl99, we considered doing this, but we had an issue with not enough room in our luggage. When you get to your cabin, you will find clean beach towels on your bed. When you use them, just drop them on the bathroom floor, and your room attendants will replace them. I understand that your can trade them for clean ones by the pool, but we never got up there, so I can't verify that. Anyway, it is really nice to have fresh (dry) towels when you leave the ship for excursions. I can't imagine anyone losing one, but I guess it happens!

The Star charges 25$ deposit if you get your towels by the pool, there are some available in your room that you could probably take on your excursion. That's what we did, wouldn't want to lose them, cause for $25 you can purchase a VERY nice towel.

you better believe $25 will purchase a lot better towels than what the ship has or will have when they finish upgrading.

yes they are in your room, and yes you can exchange for free at the pool exchange station for clean ones. No charge unless you don't have one to trade. Just got back...great trip.
