Beach towels?

There's a thread on one of the other boards here about beach towels being taken off the ship. It seems that each line might be different. I'd like to know the policy for X--also is the policy across the board or does it differ per ship?

Thanks!

pretty well cross the board as far as I know.

Towels to take ashore available as you leave the ship. Sign for them against your room. Back in just get checked off. Just remember that a ships towel will ID you as a passenger of a certain line and in some places that could be a security issue.

I don't understand how being ID'ed as a passenger from a certain line can be a security issue. Are there people with a vendetta for Celebrity pax??

We sailed on the Millennium last March. The room steward told us to use the beach towels provided in the room. There was even a very nice beach bag in the closet for going ashore. We just brought them back to our room and they got changed every day just like the bath towels. I`m afraid I don`t understand the security risk thing either but it`s not the first time I`ve heard it.

jam35 this was not just for X Pax. Some area's /beaches in out of the way Islands/places are not the best places to be ID as a pax from any ship. it is very likely I'm sure that you would be picked out as a tourist but hey why advertise that your a "Rich" (is most locals minds cause you're from a ship) one.
Your own comfort zone applys of course.

One of the things that I really like about Celebrity is the way they handle towels. We got the towels in our room for the beach days, there were plenty of towels around the pool to use, they had towels at the gangway before we went ashore, the cabin steward brought us extras when we wanted to "spread out" on a beach day--never a hassle. I contrast that to my trip on Princess, where we were told to keep track of our (one) towel, and the only one who could exchange a wet/dirty towel was the poor cabin steward. Seemed odd that you'd plunk a bajillion dollars for a cruise and they'd worry you would pinch a ten dollar towel!

On our recent Mercury cruise we took as many towels as we wanted from poolside before we got off each beach day. We left the $25 ones in the room unused. They probably buy the poolside ones for $2 each , and we so no "towel police" .
