Bed Extenders

I just got on the Princess web site cruise personalizer and realized that you can request bed extenders. Any thoughts on how useful they are and whether they cut off the room too much? I am 6 ft. 6 in., so bed length tends to be an issue for me. If it matters, we are sailing on the Island Princess and are booked in a Category BA room.
