:) just returned from Western Carribean cruise on Carnival. I decided to book a combo zipline and cave tubing excursion not offered by the cruise line. Am really glad I did. Booked it through V.I.V. tours at www.cbelize.com. Lunch was included. Also saw this on shoretrips.com but is cheaper if booked directly from the site. our group was small 9 of us in all.
We were met at the dock after tendering in from the ship. We were very nervous about the 6hr posted time and making it back. If you catch an early tender you will have no problems.(be sure to get a tender ticket on board the ship.) We were back to the port with an Hour to spare and enough time to walk around.
Having said that our guides were the best.
one did the driving while the other, Marcel took us on the cave tubing adventure. He was very knowledgeable about the Mayan customs and the local plants and insects. The hike to the drop off point is about 1.5 miles along a jungle path that wasn't very hard to walk. We frequently stopped along the path while Marcel pointed out the various native plants and insects. We noticed other groups both larger AND about same size passing us on the path.(guess their guide didn't have the wealth of information that Marcel had.) The Zipline Canopy tour was also great as long as your not afraid of heights. After both tours they took us to a local restaurant where we had a great lunch.
