You could take a water taxi to Caye Caulker.  The island is very beautiful and relaxed.  They have no cars but you could rent a golf cart for the older ladies.  Next time we go there I think that is what we will do.  We only had a short time on the caye when we did the Coral Breeze excursion and I wish we had had more time there.  I hope this helps!
