About the only real risk with using an independent tour operator is getting back to the boat in time. If you do elect to take an independent tour instead of a tour booked thru the ship, make sure the guide knows what time you have to be back in Belize time. Sometimes Belize time and ship time are an hour apart. If you want to be totally risk free but pay more $$$ then book thru the ship.We've been on 7 cruises and this past winter booked our cave tubing thru X-Stream Tours for much less than the ship excursion. It was tight for time in our case but we made it back with about 15 minutes to spare for the last tender back to the ship.
