I've done Shark ray alley by ship tour, this time we're thinking of trying to book our own tour...something that involves the Cayes and snorkeling...how big of a problem does this present with tendering, has anyone tried booking "off ship" any suggestions on companies/tenders that are safe and will have me back on time?

THANKS

Sailing aboard the Paradise on 9/7 and my wfie and I intend to take a water taxi to Caye Caulker and hire a local to take us out to the reef for a couple of hours. Have not done this before but we have a friend who once lived there and my local dive shop manager lived there, too. Both recommended Thunderbolt water taxi. there are alos local tour operators I understand. Problem is time. Weather and time in port and the major factors.

There are Websites availabe, too. gocaycaulker.com

clear weather and calm seas,

Be first to get in line for a tender ticket so you will get on the first tender. To get to the water taxi you can ask a local to point it out to you before you leave the "compound". It is a short walk around to yourleft when facing away from the water. . The water taxi cost about $15 per person round trip. There is nothing to do on Caye Caulker. There is a place to get a drink. There is no beach to speak of. We saw tour operators for people who wanted to go out to the reef but, they seemed to be all day tours for people who were staying on the caye. Check it out ahead of time. Good luck.
