These are our ports.....sailing Carnival (Belize, Roatan, Cayman, and Cozumel). What excursion do you all recommend? We have done entensive traveling in the Caribbean and realize that we may see many third world living conditions so this won't bother us.........this is however, our first real cruise. We don't dive but we do snorkel. We are in our late 20s. What do you exprienced cruisers recommend? PS We have been to Chichen Itza and Xcaret when in the Mexican/Mayan Riveria a few years ago and both were great. Thanks.

My DH and I are sailing the Paradise Nov 30 to these same ports. We've been to Cozumel and Grand Cayman before. For Belize we are cave tubing, but haven't decided who to go with yet, either Reggie or X-stream. In Roatan, we are getting massages at Sante Wellness Center. They've gotten rave reviews on Cruise Critic boards. In Cozumel we are going to Chankanaaub (not sure of the spelling!) park for the day. You can swim with dolphins or sea lions there. In Grand Cayman we are taking the NativeWay Water Sports tour to Sting Ray City. You can snorkel with the sting rays there.

Shark Ray alley or Cave tubing in Belize (both were great), Chankanabb park on your own or the Discover Scuba excursion (no prior experience needed) in Cozumel. There is great snorkeling from shore in Cayman. Eden Rock-just turn right when you get off the tender and walk a couple of blocks. Enjoy!!

My DH and I will be on the Paradise on Nov 16th to these ports. We have been to Cozumel and Grand Cayman twice before and it will be our first trip to Belize and Roatan.

The first year in Cozumel and Grand Cayman, we took ship tour in Grand Cayman and just went to Chankanaab on our own in Cozumel.
The ship tour in Grand Cayman took us around town a little, we went to Hell, the Turtle Farm, and then took a boat out to Sting Ray Alley. Swimming with the Sting Rays is incredible! It was a great tour with a little bit of everything. It was fun to send postcards from Hell. :)

In Cozumel we took a taxi to Chankanaab, walked around the garden and snorkeled. It was really nice. For a fee, they also have a place to swim with dolphins and a few little shops.
We went back to the boat to clean up and then went out shopping. Shopping was interesting, you can haggle on some stuff. We brought back some chess sets and souvenirs.

Since we did our shopping in Cozumel on the first trip, we booked a snorkel trip on our own for our second trip. We wanted to go to Palancar Reef, but the currents that day were too strong. It was a great trip though. We even did a little bit of shopping afterward since you are usually there for a long time.

On our second trip to Grand Cayman, we just snorkeled at Eden Rock. It's free, it's right off the dock where you tender in, and it is very nice. If you like going to Hard Rock Cafe's, there is one in Grand Cayman. Just buy your souvenirs, don't bother eating. The food was good, but very very expensive. It was like $20 for a cheeseburger and fries.

Have fun and Enjoy!!

Next month on the Horizon we will be doing the following activities.

Grand Cayman, Sting Ray city and snorkel with Nativeway.

Roatan, Sante Wellness Centre for massages, snorkelling and beach lounging.

Cozumel, Chankanaab Park.

We have been to Cayman and Cozumel before, but not done either of these trips. They are easy to do independently.

I will endeavour to write a revue on our return to the UK.

How do I contact Sante Wellness Centre in Honduras, or arrange to visit them? Thanks.

At Chankanaab (sp???) in Cozumel, do you have to take your own snorkel gear or can you rent it? We've been to Cozumel several times and are looking for something different to do and we love to snorkel.

runner1909,
At Chankanaab (sp???) there are plenty of places to rent snorkel equipment either all or partial. I bring my own mask and snorkle for better fit and sanitation purposes. Then I rented fins and vest. I believe that it was $7 for all day.

We just returned from our trip on the Paradise yesterday. We went cave tubing with X-Stream Cave Tubing and had a GREAT time. We had a total of 12 people on our trip and it was perfect. Avoid the crowds and enjoy a personalized trip - you will not regret it!!

Yes, we did go to Roatan. We were going to rent a car and try to find a beach but it was a rainy day so we just walked around near where the ship docks. Very sad! Very poor people and small children wanting to be your "guide". Not a whole lot right there so I would recommend planning some type of excursion. This is one place I found on the internet that we wanted to see if we had rented a car - sure looks nice!!

We did this itinerary on Carnival Paradise last February. You can find my review on this site from that cruise, and my pictures are at this link:

Roatan: Parrot Bay Beach Resort ship excursion

Belize: Goff Caye Snorkeling ship excursion

Grand Cayman: 7-Mile Beach ship excursion, this was a "do whenever you want" excursion, so we shopped in the morning and went to the beach in the afternoon. The morning was totally crowded, and we had the beach almost to ourselves in the afternoon and early evening! This was our third time here -- Snorkel with the Stingrays if it's your first trip here!

Cozumel: This was our third time here, shopped on our home, did Chakanaab on our own!

Happy cruising!

Hi!
Just got back from an NCL cruise last week and visited all these ports. Here's what we did:
Belize - Shark Ray Alley Snorkeling - Had a GREAT time!! Saw lots of stingrays, but only a few nurse sharks. Our excursion had an optional town sightseeing in San Pedro, which was great! Sand streets, hardly any cars-only golf carts, and open air restaurants.
Roatan - Did the dolphin encounter at Anthony's Key Resort. Absolutely loved it. The encounter is on an actual beach, not swimming pool and the ratio is 6 to 1 dolphin. Also went to Tabyana Beach which had good snorkeling.
Cayman - Did the city tour. It was storming when we went so all the snorkeling excursions were cancelled. City tour was fun - especially visiting the sea turtle farm.
Cozumel - Snuba. Was my first time and loved it. The rest of the time we did a LOT of jewelry shopping.
