Hi, we won a free cruise, ( basic accommodation) from our last cruise (retreat booking) and are wondering how to low cost our way through it.
1. Should we pre purchase a drink package
2. Upgrade our room now
Or wait until embarkation day to do both?

Congratulations, if you don’t mind the basic cabin I wouldn’t upgrade , you could wait and try a move up which will be cheaper but you might not be successful . I would buy drink package before you sail. We love Celebrity suites and would have a hard time going to a basic cabin. We had a sky suite on last cruise wife waned something bigger was able to do move up to penthouse.

Do you mind sharing your move up experience? We are fairly new to Celebrity and are spoiled with the sky suite ourselves. Thank you

Move up is fairly simple you can just bid on whatever suite you want , I made bids for several different suites all at the royal level or above, royal level gives you lots of extra perks including free specialty restaurants, liquor set up and more . Then two days before we sailed we were told our bid for penthouse was accepted, we were celebrating a few things and penthouse was amazing about 1600 sq ft , 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, master bath area with huge jacuzzi was bigger than some cabins , three large TVs . We have a royal suite on summit in a month and sky on the new beyond in november . Normally drink package is included with most bookings.
