Best time to book and first time on royal?

So my family and I are planning on taking a cruise February '16. When would be the best time to book, in order to get a good room, but a great price? We don't care about a balcony. Inside cabin is totally okay. But we'd rather spend more on other things, and save overall for the cruise itself. Also on the flight.

One of the cruises we're thinking about is the February 15th on the Royal. For those of you who've traveled on her, what're some of the best things to do and see on the ship itself? And are there any hidden gems that not a lot of people know about? Maybe extra perks or something?

Thanks in advance!

I cannot believe how old these posts are ..No travel agent or website can give you the information you are looking for....Everything is different for every cruises. What matters to you, may not matter to someone else. START with Princess, there is another website with more up to date information by people like you. Do your homework before you book any cruise.
