Aha! I get another chance to recommend my restaurant.
It is called 'Bebo's Cafe' and is located on calle Loiza. The BW Pierre is on calle de Diego. Go out the front door and head toward the beach down de Diego away from the Pueblo supermarket. At the first intersection [very close] which is de Diego and Loiza turn right. Walk approximately two blocks and it is on your right. Don't expect anything fancy just good inexpensive local food.
There are menus but the daily specials will probably still be on the chalkboard. Some of the waitresses do speak English. This is a truly local place where the lunch is packed with office and bank workers from the area. If you go to lunch you will probably have to wait for a table so we usually went just after one o'clock.
At dinner there will be plenty of space and I don't think it is open quite late. There will be many tourists from the BW Pierre there especially if the flight from Germany [once weekly] is there. It is very popular with the German tourists. That is probably the only place to eat within walking distance. And the AC is downright frigid at times!
By taxi you can find many wonderful restaurants, some of which have been mentioned on this board. Go to Caribbean hits instead of Princess on this board and read about some of these.
Check out the supermarket across the street especially if you are thinking of taking liquor or wine onto the ship. Prices there are terrific! [as in terrifically low] There is even some rum which is not exported [Barellito??]
The beach is straight down calle de Diego. The entrance is across Ashford at the end of the street through the children's park. That is the start of the Ocean Park beach. If you do go swimming remember it is the Atlantic on that side and not the Caribbean and it can be rough!
