How does Princess'ss sail away party differ from Carnival or Royal. I know first time cruisers are disappointed coz they expect what they have seen on the lOve boat and every cruise I have been on is far from being that way.

I have been on 2 Carnival cruises, and have yet to see a sail off party. NCL does great sail off parties, but Carnvial has never done them.

Cruise Cutie,
I've been on the Star Princess on a Baltic cruise in July and we totally missed the bon voyage party because we were at the back of the ship. Anyway, we found out later that they gave free champagne to the folks who were on the right spot. I saw the ship's video and it's far from a "party." It was pretty mellow and there were no bands playing or people waving from the dock. I'm cruising with Star again in Dec. bound for Western Caribbean from FLL. From what you described, it is 100x more fun! I'm all excited now and you can bet that I'll be the first one there. :)

I've never really seen a bon voyage party on Princess. Maybe I've been in the wrong place. :? I've just seen people congregating around the pools and a band playing music. Haven't seen anyone dancing or a CD organizing anything. Carnival has some pretty fun sailing away parties though. :)

:wave I agree with Cutie, I love the sail aways from Port Everglades because even the owners of the condos join in the fun with their air horns and lots of people with bon voyage signs and such while the Love Boat song plays. I have enjoyed these kind of sail aways on Princess.

Virginia, I'm sure they do up on the pool deck. We're always on our balconies watching LA slip by, so I've never been up there, at least with Princess.

Caribbean Princess

We will be taking our first Princess cruise on 2/10. I have been reading all of the good and bad comments. We booked at the last minutes and the cruise is sold out. All that was left was an inside cabin on the Caribe deck C717. We have sailed three times in the past on Royal Caribbean last time being Freedom of the Seas and have always had a balcony room that I am so afraid that I will be totally disappointed. We are going as a surprise to someone celebrating a 50th anniversary and took what we could get. We also are taking my mother who will be staying in our room so that is also a concern that she will be comfortable. So, has anyone had 3 people staying in such a room and what was your experience??

Re: Caribbean Princess

Well, I was once in an inside cabin with both my parents and my grandmother. I was 16. Worked out fine. We took turns in the bathroom and spent very little time in the cabin itself.

I have also, in the past, taken inside rooms alone. I only used my cabin to sleep, shower and change....was never there.

Just work out a loose schedule for the 3 of you for shower time, etc. Should be fine!! After all, you didn't plan on spending your cruise in the cabin anyhow.

On Grand Princess we sailed from Galveston. They were playing country music videos on the movies under the stars screen as we sailed away...just didn't seem right :lol

We have always had a sail away party no matter where we sailed from. The med, Caribbean, LA, San Diego. The place to be is the pool area. This has been the case no matter what cruise line we have been on. Of course, we have not been on every cruise line but Princess, RCI and Celebrity do it this way. Oh yeah, and our first cruise way back when with Carnival was the same way. Have fun and enjoy your sail away and so much more!!
