Booked!!! (Now I need an hotel)

Well... I did not ask many questions here, but I read all the posts and found mostly all the answers I need.

I booked for 2 cabins in Century for next August, Western Caribian Cruise, one internal for our sons (25 and 16) and one external for us. This will be our second cruise, first was in year 2000 on Grandeur of the Seas, Eastern Caribean, but after all I read about Celebrity we want to try a different company.

I followed the recommendations and checked prices from different sources, Internet TA, my TA, online booking, etc. Finally I decided for an online booking that provided the next to best price. One TA gave me a better price (only $50 less for the 2 cabins) but was very slow answering my mails and also insisted in me to call him. As I am not living in USA, I prefer to comunicate via email.

I also have my airline tickets booked and now I am looking for an hotel in Ft. Lauderdale, as we plan to spend 2 or 3 days before the cruise there.

Thanks for all the help... I will continue posting about our trip.

Jorge

Re: Booked!!!

Jorge,
Try amersuites on 17 st. they pick you up at the airport and take you to the ship it's a big help and they have a nice free breakfast too.

Re: Booked!!!

You might try Priceline & the help for bidding on Priceline. I found it by inputting Ft. Lauderdale hotels & Priceline into the Yahoo search engine. It got me into The Rennaissance (nice hotel I think) for the price of a Best Western. It is $75 plus $15 tax for a **** hotel. Apparently the Hyatt Regency is very popular.

Thanks for the tips guys. I tried Priceline, but really I would like to know to which hotel I'm booking.

Talking about Best Western... What about the Fort Lauderdale Inn? It is $69 plus tax (by the way... how much is the tax?). It is located in 1221 State Road 84. Is that a good area?

Thanks

Jorge

I would rather bid 69.00 for a 3 star hotel in Downtown Ft Lauderdale and get a hotel like Embassy Suites than pay . 69.00 for Best Western, or similar. You can be pretty sure you will get a nice hotel near the port rather then booking a hotel that I'm not sure where it is or what it is like. In Ft lauderdale, Priceline is the way to go.

Jorge, don't book the Best Western At Ft. Lauderdale. It has received very negative reviews. Try Valuetrips.com. The rate for your time of stay for Amerisuites should be less than $89 per night.
Bon Voyage

The Best Westerns in FLL are really not very nice. Embassy Suites, Marriott Marina, Hyatt pier 66 are all good choices and all of them are on 17th street and near the port as well as not far from the airport. If you try priceline or Hotwire these are the type of hotels that you get and for a good price, if you want to book them on your own I would go for the Marriott Marina it is a great location, nice hotel and all the rooms have a balcony.

Thanks for the info, I think I will go for Priceline, but...
When is the best time to use Priceline? Months ahead or near to the trip?
Cheers!
