Booking shore excursions early

If you book a shore excursion early and later once aboard the ship you find another shore excrusion can you trade it in on that one?

There is usually a time limit of 24 to 48 hours. It should say when you book it. If you are outside that time limit (24 to 48 hours pre-excursion) then you can switch. If you are inside that time limit then you cannot.
