Going on Carnival Spirit June 30 - Northbound Alaska.

Already have Capt Larry booked thanks to your recommendations.

Question: Any other independent operators we should consider in other ports? Would like to go fishing in Sitka - afraid to wait until on ship to book through Carnival. Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks.

Hi - it is always a good idea to research what you are interested in and to book in advance. Many independent tours are popular and therefore it is better to book in advance. If you are interested in seeing what tours are interesting or gets good reviews check out cruisecritic. I went on a horseback ride through Southeast tours and I thoroughly enjoyed it. They offer a horseback ride on the hills back of Emerald Lake, a beautiful green/blue jewel of a lake just north of Carcross, Yukon. The horse tour operator, Joni was excellent, and an experienced guide. You can check out her tour at the www.southeasttours.com Other independents, may be listed in the Skagway site. Like I said, earlier - info like this can be seen on Cruisecritic b/c people are always asking about information about tours. I hope that helps you.

Thanks for the help! I'll check it out. Also got a brochure in from some sort of brochure from Alaska Travel Adventures. Looks similar to those tours offered via Carnival.

Juneau - Mendenhall Glacer Float Trip - $99
Glacer View Sea Kayaking - $79
Gold Mining and Panning Adventure - $39
Salmon bake - $29

Ketchikan - Jeep and Canoe Safari - $125
Rain Forest Canoe - $79
Adventure Cruise and Rain Forest - $79
Kayaking - $69

Skagway - Jeep Highway Adventure - $115

Sitka - Sea Kayaking - $89

Are these prices reasonable? Find out more at www.alaskaadventures.com

Still looking for a 1/2 day fishing tour for my fiancee and I. Hopefully something will turn up.

I remember seeing someone posted something about a 1/2 fishing trip but I cannot recall exactly where. If you go on either cruisecritic or cruisemates - key in for Alaska message board you could do a search for fishing or fishing trips and it will bring up all the messages with those words. That is probabley the quickest way to find some information that will help you to find a good tour for fishing. If I see anything in the meantime - I will let you okay?

Hi again, just was checking out what the other boards said about fishing charters etc. Cruisecritic didn't bring up hardly anything - on the other hand, Cruisemates brought up 18 different messages about fishing. I did a search of the Alaska forum using both subject and message and all dates. Its worth your while to check it out. You did not mention where you wanted to do your 1/2 day fishing trip. I seem to read a lot about fishing out of Ketchican, Juneau and Auke Bay. Hope this helps you in your search - might do yourself some good to contact the tourism centers to send you a info package on the ports you want to visit. Happy sailing!
