I'm planning a cruise with an old friend. We inevitably drink alot when we are together. It would be nice to have a little something in the room during our trip. Do they search luggage for booze? Any one have ideas on the best way to bring it aboard?

I have alway brought soda and booze onboard without a problem.
Pack in your carry on. You can put rum in soda bottles. And I also buy small bottles that fit in your pocket in ports. Enjoy!

Do they go through your shopping bags when you return from the port? Meaning, do they look at everything you have purchased?

All packages go thru xray when boarding in ports.
You can put small pints in your pockets. Most ports sell small bottles for this purpose.

Two weeks ago we bought a fifth of rum and a fifth of vodka. One of the bottles went in to my snorkel bag with my fins & mask and the other one in Susan's (wrapped in our towels so they wouldn't break if dropped). They passed right through the x-ray machine with no problem at all.

If you bring booze back to the ship in the brightly colored bags from the duty free shops the cruise line will take it, write your cabin number on it and return it to you on the last night of the cruise.

Clear liquors such as gin, vodka, light rum etc could also be poured in a regular old plastic water bottle.

A few years ago a buddy of mine decided to put some whiskey in a plastic mouthwash bottle. Since plastic containers sometimes retain the flavor of what was originally in them that's a bad idea unless you like mint flavored whiskey :lol

Thanks for the tips.
The snorkel bags are a good idea but I don't have any of those bags. Maybe I will have to get one or two. :) Small pints make me feel like I'm a drunk.
I was hoping to pickup some beer and bring it on board but I'm not sure how I will be able to do that.

We brought a case of beer that was packed in our luggage. It was Coors Light in the plastic bottles so we didn't have to worry about them breaking. It was no problem at all. We brought along a soft-sided cooler and our cabin steward keep it filled with ice all week.

Also, you can buy most hard liquor in plastic bottles now so that's not a problem either.

If you are flying you can not bring any liqs on broad in your carry on. So you would have to pack it in your luggae.

I am getting ready for my 3rd Carnival cruise and always have 2 cases of beer in a suitcase. The last time I had 2 cases and a bottle of vodka. All of these were in my shipped luggage. When you get to your room and see the "lbooze suitcase" it is like you have already been to the casino and won.

I have never seen soooooo much brought on booze on a cruise in my life as I did last week with all the older crowd on Miracle! Everyone at our table at brought on an obscene amount of them and got by with it! So proud! HEE HEE! The most I have ever brought on is a few bottles of wine and champg. All of these people brought on BOTTLES of the hard good stuff!

PLUS we heard some people in the ports talking about getting more on, the best way to do it is to NOT tell the people you are buying it from that you are on a ship that way they don't do that pack it up and meet ya there with it crap! GRRR!

I have been on several cruises and on Carnival I have never had a problem packing it in my luggage. On other lines they take it away and give it back at the end of the cruise, but even so if you put it in other bottles and vacauum seal them so that they don't leak you will have no problem bring them onboard
