Bottled water and soda

Hi everyone! I'm leaving on 7/20 for a cruise on the Inspiration. I've never done a Carnival cruise before, so I'm pretty excited. Only ever went on one other cruise, NCL, for my honeymoon 2 years ago.
Anyway, I have a question for you experienced cruisers. Are we allowed to take bottled water and/or soda on-board. I remember paying a ridiculous amount of money for bottled water last time and I would like to take my own, if that is possible. The soda would be nice, but isn't a huge deal.
If this is not permitted, has anyone gotten away with sneaking it on? If so, how did you do it? Thanks in advance!

Yes, you can take reasonable amounts of water on board. I plan on taking both soda and alcohol on board in my checked luggage. I've heard that there isn't a real problem taking on non-alcoholic beverages, although many messages on this board talk about all the drinks taken on board. I plan on taking the mini bottles of liquor to cut down on the expenses. You can also buy soda cards for a fixed price that cover all your sodas for the trip. That's a good deal, especially for kids.

HAVE FUN!!

soda cards were great if you drink alot of soda. child's 7 day soda card was $22, but varies with number of days of cruise and adult cards cost more. these are fountain sodas only ... not bottled or canned. they sell 16 oz bottles for $2.50. bottled water costs about the same. we didn't bring anything on board...had too much luggage already with 3 teenage girls...

Recently returned from our Legend cruise, and saw a guest with 2 cases of .5 liter bottles of water on a luggage cart. No questions asked. However, we brought ONE BOTTLE of champagne on board and after our carryon bags were scanned, we were sent over to a desk with a sign which read "Confiscated Items". My first reaction was "oh, no." They just made us pull the bottle out of our carryon bag, said "OK", and off we went with our champagne. I did not see anyone carrying 12 pks. or cases of soda, but did see people walking around with cans of Pepsi and other brands that Carnival does not serve. Apparently, it got on board with them just fine.

I always take my own bottled water and soda on board - no sneaking or smuggling. I usually pack it in a tote bag to carry on -- that way the tote bag will be emptied and I can bring home my souvenirs and purchases back in it.

On one cruise, we even used a small piece of luggage with wheels and it was full of soda and water. I choose the six packs of soda in bottles so I can screw the top back on and throw it in my beach bag when I head out to the pool.

This was on the Triumph last December and there were no questions asked. As a matter of fact, two of my water bottles were filled with vodka - no problem.

You should have no problem taking your own water and soda - I didn't. Go for it and have a great time!

Should have no problem with bottled water, in fact, very good idea. Recommend buying a soda card, especially if you or your kids drink alot of soda. Cost us about $15 on a 5-day cruise on Carnival at New Years, worth every cent! Don't forget, there's always lemonade, iced tea, and fruit punch available free at the poolside buffet, and it's pretty good! Happy sailing!

Yo! Mandy,

The ship's drinking water is potable.
However, if you're nervous about it, consider one of these "Brita Fill & Go" filtration bottles.
They're available at Wal*Mart for $5.95. They hold 20 oz. of water, and each replaceable filter lasts for 15 gallons of water. Just fill, squeeze & drink.

Much easier than schlepping heavy, bulky water aboard. Saves room for more booze!
