Bring my own wine?

My husband and I truly enjoy wine, in fact, we make it the focus of some of our vacations, going to various wine regions. We're trying to decide if we should bring our own wine on our Caribbean cruise in April (Summit).
It's not so much a matter of cost (although that is a small factor), it's more a matter of the offerings they will have on the ship.
Any feedback on the wine available onboard?
Any way we might be able to see their wine list before departure?
Anyone faced this decision before, and if so, what did you do?

Thanks for the feeback!

HI KAREN!!

This is a frequent question...you can go back on these pages and find many responses...but the bottom line is:

Yes, you can bring on as much wine as you would like...however, you might have to indicate that it is for dining room consumption. Most people walk on at embarkation with wine in their carry-ons. It is best to pack some in your luggage before you go onboard. (Do not fly with bottles in your luggage and pack your bottles in protective bubble wrap in sealed zip lock bags.) We have never had any problem with Celebrity and we have seen people bring on a full case with no questions asked.

We did have a bottle of liquor confiscated when we came back to the ship after we stopped at an island (in October). There were other times that you could walk onboard during the cruise with no problems.

DO NOT CONSUME YOUR OWN IN PUBLIC AREAS!! We saw one group of 5-6 "jerks" trying to have their own cocktail party at the pool. This is a huge faux pas!! What you do in your own cabin should be your own business. So keep it in your cabin.

If you want to have your wine served in the dining room or specialty restaurant you can simply have it sent or bring it to the appropriate Sommelier and they will make all the arrangements for serving it to you. There is a $16.00 corkage fee per bottle but even this fee can be insignificant on a good bottle of wine...that you probably won't find on the Celebrity list.

Have fun!!

just to add to what Ross has said and btw I agree with everything he said..... (except the corkage fee)....The wine list on Celebrity is pretty fair but it is not cheap.

SORRY!!! The corkage fee in the specialty restaurants is $16. It is $12 in the main dining room.

Their wine list is a normal list. Usually a 2x or 3x markup over retail. Take your own. We always take our own and have never had a problem. I happily pay the corkage fee to get the wine that I want and like that they do not carry on board.

The other problem is that when California has a bad vintage (1998, 2000), they end up dumping all the excess to the cruise lines.

Have a great time.

We always take our own wine usually five or six bottles then buy some more at one of the ports. I don't mind paying the $12 corkage to drink the wine of my choice and not have to order off the ships not so great but over priced wine list
