I will admit it - my husband and I love to drink Rum and Coke. I hear the drinks will cost us a fortune as we WILL be drinking a lot. Can we smuggle a few bottles of Rum in our suitcases or not?

Actually - the drinks are pretty cheap if you're drinking rum and cokes - cheaper than a lot of bars around the Grand Rapids area. The drinks that tend to be expensive are the fruity ones in the big Carnival glasses (you can keep those too) - they are usually around $6.50.

My friend and I did bring some little bottles of liquor onboard but really didn't drink a whole lot of it. Once you're on the lido deck in the carribbean sun, laying on a lounge chair - the last thing you want to do is go to your room to mix a drink.

Have fun!

We just sailed on the Ecstacy and one of my group brought vodka onboard disquised in regular water bottles. We had no problems at all! I suppose you could do the same with rum! Good luck, and have a great time!

If I have room, I pack rum, vodka, cordials, etc. either in little nips or small plastic Water bottles. I just like the convenience of making my own drink in my cabin. Also, bring a sports water bottle and you can make your special drink to sip by the pool. They will not allow you to bring on bottles of liquor in open packaging; bags, boxes, etc. They will keep them until you disembark. I had a bottle of sparkling water and they just asked what was in the bag. Water or soda is OK to bring on board.
Bon Voyage

You can buy certain liquor in plastic containers now (Malibu Rum for instance). Pack it in your checked luggage. Also, when we were in ports last summer and bought a bottle or two we just put them in our back packs, put them through the scanners as we entered the ship and went through without problem.

They will, however, stop those who have purchased wine or liquor which was packed in those cardboard containers -- there is a check in desk upon returning to the ship -- you get it back at the end of the cruise.

We packed Canadian Mist and ginger ale in plastic bottles, and put it in our checked luggage. No problem. You also can bring one bottle of wine per person, without a problem. Just remember to bring a corkscrew!

Have fun.
