bringing wine on board/packing

Hi-

My husband and I (both 30) are first time cruisers and have a few questions. We both enjoy wine and I have read different things about bringing your own on board. We are cruising on the Celebrity's Horizon over New Year's Eve. Any suggestions? It would be great to have wine in the room before dinner......for convenience and to save a few dollars...

Also- any tips on essentials to pack? Do we need adaptors for blowdryers, etc. What about an iron? And do most men rent tuxes on board?

Any suggestions/tips would help greatly!
Thanks-
Teri

They won't stop you from bringing on wine. If you send a bottle to the dining room they will charge you a corkage fee..If you drink it in your room there is no charge, just remember to bring a cork screw to open your wine.
If you order wine in the resturant for dinner they do have a few bottles in the $25 to $35 range . Nothing special but drinkable.

They have a blow dryer in the bathrooms but some people prefer their own. You will not need an adaptor for American electrical devices. They don't have many outlets so if you plan on plugging more then two things at the same time bring a electrical strip.

There were no irons in the room but you can send clothes for a fee to br cleaned or ironed.

Most men wear dark suits on formal nights.

I have brought 7 bottles on board Celebrity. I normally pack it very well in the packed luggage and never lost a bottle yet (doesn't mean that it won't happen). They do charge a $12 corkage fee. I am okay with that because I have my wine that I like.

Maybe people bring wine on and it's OK but it states quite clearly in the Celebrity brochure and in the documents that no liquor is allowed onboard for personal consumption. They will enforce this rule from time to time. So, officially, you are not allowed to bring on alcohol beverages for onboard consumption.

Do NOT bring an iron onboard, use the ship's services. Irons are considered fire hazards.

I think most men either buy tuxes and wear them on cruises or wear dark suits on formal nights. A small percentage choose to rent them onboard.
