We've a;ways taken some food from the buffet, we bring zip lock bags.Never had a problem.We usaully do " beach " days so we make sure not to bring anything that could go bad. Just some danishes( breakfast buffet) and some fruit. Some islands may not want you to bring fruit , but as I've said we've never been asked or searched.
