Bumped from FV?

Has anyone actually been bumped from an FV cabin if there are only 2 people booked? I have read that you COULD be bumped if a family wanted to book the FV. Any experiences here? If so, what did they offer you for your loss of chosen cabin?

Thanks!

What I need to know is if anyone has ACTUALLY been bumped from an FV after booking a double. I have sailed in them in the past and have 2 more cruises booked in FV cabins with just the 2 of us.

I know some sailings are restricted as to how many they will allow to book in the FV in the first place, but we ARE ALREADY booked, and I have heard rumors that some passengers have been bumped. Are there any real life stories on being bumped and what did Celebrity offer you as compensation?

Thanks!

Never heard of being bumped. Also never heard of not allowing two people to book the cabin. Have had 7202 on Infinity and have it on Constellation next month.
Don't think Celebrity would do that. If they do, make it known in capital letters.
I don't know what aldesonia is talking about. Their must be some confusion.
Would like to know more specifics from aldesonia.

I've never heard of being "bumped" per se however I have had the cruise line call me on numerous occasions offering clients an upgrade. IE: Had 4 people in 2 balcony cabins on Princess once. Princess called and offered an upgrade to a family suite (a huge upgrade). I knew Princess must have needed the two cabins my clients were booked in pretty badly to offer such a huge upgrade. It was my clients' option to accept or decline the upgrade (a no-brainer in this case). In 9 years I have never had a client "bumped" without their consent. I do not believe the cruise line is able to do that once you are booked.

To answer Joe's question, the cruise line can capacity control the occupancy of each category. In the case of aldesonia, it sounds like they were TRYING to book but the cruise line was holding the remaining cabins in that category for groups of more than 2. They CAN do that if they want to in order to save room for the larger parties.

We booked a FV last October for this October and had no problems. When I spoke with our TA Friday, he said that he recently booked someone else in a FV and X gave him some grief when he went to pay. He's never he heard of anyone being bumped.

I called my ta to get a FV cabin she said that X said that they hold these cabins for familys. I told her that we were a family and we were willing to pay the price she said that X told her no that they were holding them for larger groups. She may have given me a story. All I know is I didn't get this cat.It was for the Mercury 2-7-05 I hope this make sense to you. AL D

Al,

It does make sence if there were only 2 of you. There are only a few FV cabins and they are in great demant by families of 4 - 5 people. That category usually sells out and usually early. That's the reason that X will "save" the cabins in that category for larger groups. Your T/A was giving you the straight story.

Happy Cruising,

Michael

We reserved the FV for N. Europe 7/16/05 for 3. When we added one more and wanted to get an additional cabin so 4 of us wouldn't have to share a bathroom for 2 weeks, they said we couldn't keep the FV for 2. We understand it is a very popular cruise, but we were disappointed not to be able to keep the cabin.

I had an FV for 3 people a while back. I tried to book one for Nov. 2005 for 2 people on Infinity and they said no. They said theyw ould only give one to 2 peopel if it was unsold about 45 days before the sailing.

Booking FVs seems to be a date sensitive thing. Celebrity will not allow these cabins to be booked by 2 during holiday & vacation times when there are more kids onboard. They do however allow double bookings during times when schools are in session and the number of kids low. That to me is an acceptable policy.

As to bumping after booking - I am not saying it hasn´t happened but we have simply not heard about it on any of the boards yet. We have however seen bumping from the PH suite on one of our cruises. 2 couples from the UK booked both PH Suites for a trans Panama cruise very soon after 09/11 - they got them for a rediculous price. However Celebrity bumped them out of the PH into a standard outside without Balcony as they were obviously able to sell the PH at a much better rate later. Both couples did however get that cruise for free plus an additional cruise in the PH for free. Celebrity did not allow them the choice of weather they wanted to accept that bump or not . It was either accept our offer or have your money back and not cruise at all. Sure the cruisers were very unhappy as they didn´t even get a balcony but I guess in hindsight two free cruises weren´t such a bad deal after all.
