Butler Service

I have not been able to find any information on Princess Butler service for suites -- I am booked on the 01MAY04 sailing of the Caribbean Princess in stateroom A750, but am not sure if Princess even has Butler service, and if so, if it is any big deal. Celebrity does a great job, and I really enjoyed dining in-cabin with the obligatory 26 pieces of silverware and all of the other nice touches that the Celebrity Butler provided. HAL does not have any such service (which is weird -- since the HAL penthouse suites have a bulter's pantry -- but no butler). Can anyone out there give me some feedback? Thanks!!

We had a butler with Princess and believe me, you aren't missing much. We were really disappointed with his service & attitude. Thankfully, another butler helped us out.
The following year, we were on the very first Grand Princess cruise AFTER they had cancelled the butler service. We were hoping to have a better experience with a different butler. It turned out that our cabin steward did everything we wanted him to do and really went all out for us. We didn't miss having a butler at all.

I think a lot of the cruise lines are cutting back on these little perks.

Had pretty much the same experience with the butler service we had on the Grand P. Personally since the cabin stewards have taken over those duties (and IMO done a Gr8 Job at it) the service has gotten a LOT better.

We have had a butler on Celebrity (Harry who was awesome) and one on Princess before they stop and he was terrible, half the time we could not find him. I think the the cabin stewarts to a fantastic job....

I agree with all the above. The cabin steward did a remarkable job for us, and we were actually able to relax more by having the service tailored to our desires. I didn't miss having a butler one bit.

We apparently had the only good butler on Princess before they did away with them. He was really great and took care of all the little extras for us, like making dinner reservations in the alternative dining room, sending our wine to the dining room each evening (and making sure they took care of it-one night the waitstaff "lost" our wine and our butler came down and went to bat for us, it was instantly "found"), arranging our renewal of vows, making spa appointments, getting our formal clothes pressed, and more that I can't remember. Yes, we could have done all this with out him, but this allowed us to make ONE call, ONE point of contact. We loved it. We tipped him very well, and I am glad I did since no one else has claimed a positive experience.
