buying and bringing back liquor

bought several bottles of liquor in St. Thomas on last cruise and I know we were allowed to bring back more because it is a U.S. Port. What are you allowed per person if you buy liquor in St. Martin? Cruise I am looking at does not stop in St. Thomas

I believe it is only one bottle per person. Don't fret however, the duty is only 10%, so buy all you can carry; just keep the receipts and declare it.

I didn't realize it was only 10%!
Thanks for the info Cruzman!
I want to bring back a few bottles of that guavaberry liquor I have heard about.
Take Care,

Lisa, most times if you have an amount of alcohol a customs official deems to be "personal" you won't be charged duty either. The amount you can bring back duty free from St. Maarten (and other non-US islands) is 1 litre per person. But when I've declared up to about 5 litres in the past, even though I was well over the limit, the customs official would just smile, mark my declaration as cleared (without additional duty) and tell me "welcome home."
