BYO Wine

Nothing here under "SEARCH", so if any recent Century cruisers can answer this one, we'd appreciate it. We don't have a brochure. Celebrity's website says there's a corkage fee for any personal wine brought into the dining room. Others say you can't bring any liquor aboard for personal consumption (or do they mean "hard" liquor?) We like to bring our own wine to drink on our balcony. Will the "liquor police" confiscate it like other cruise lines? (There's even one that sets aside "suspect" checked baggage once it's xrayed & you have to go to the purser's office to claim it and open it in front of them. They take any booze they find and return it the last nite of the cruise).
Any assistance will be appreciated!

Celebrity lets you bring on your own, just do not over do it. We carried on 2 packs of beer, pepsi and 2 bottles of wine, which we had in our cabin. :)

HI KWAJ,
CELEBRITY CENTURY IS GREAT. WHEN YOU GET TO FLORIDA STOP AT A PACKAGE STORE/WINE BOUTIQUE AND BUY WHATEVER YOU LIKE AND THEN WRAP IT IN BUBBLE WRAP AND PACK IT IN YOUR LUGGAGE. YOU CAN ALSO TAKE A LITTLE IN YOUR CARRY ON BAGS. THERE IS ALSO A LIGUOR STORE ONBOARD AND THE PRICES ARE FAB. YOU CAN PURCHASE FROM THE STORE AND BE NICE TO THE CLERK AND THEY USUALLY LET YOU TAKE IT WITH YOU. HAVE A BLAST!

I carried five bottles of my own wine on board the Summit this past February and paid a $12 corkage fee at dinner for each bottle.

I would give it to my room steward each afternoon and it would be at our table when we arrived for dinner.

It was well worth it to drink a decent quality of wine compared to the over priced wine on their wine list.

I will do it again next November.

I called Celebrity and they told me they allowed you to bring 2 bottles on board and you could pay a corkage fee in the dining room.

You can bring your own wine. I normally check it because I don't want to lug it with the carry ons. I have taken up to 7 bottles on before. The room stewards will bring a wine bucket and glass to your room. There is a $10 or $15 corkage fee in the dinning room. I can't remember which it is now. Since Celebrity has wine stewards in the dining room, you will get charged. On RCI and Princess, you might get charged or you might not. When I wasn't charged, I tipped the asst waiter or waiter about the same amount per bottle for opening it for me.

We were on Century last october and carried on more than 2 bottles (don't remember how many, probably about 4). They charged me a $12 corkage fee in the dining room, 4 dollars of which was listed as going to the wine steward as gratuity. I'll be on Century again next october and intend to do the same.

Just got off the Galaxy. We were able to bring a whole case of wine on board without a problem.

The wine steward in the Orion Dining room charged us corkage fees for less than half of them.
