Hello jnojr,Sorry, can't help with the price questions, but the inside staircases are carpeted and are wide enough for two, sometimes three people to walk abreast going up while another three walk together going down. Not usually as opulent as the staircase in the Titanic movie, but very nice. And the staircases in the dining rooms frequently actually are as nice as the one in the Titanic movie.Actually some of the staircases are pretty fabulous. You should see the clear glass ones on the Mariner.I think the reason some people would avoid them is because of just how many stairs are involved in climbing from deck two to deck twelve.The outside stairs are obviously not as nice but usually plenty wide enough for one person going up and one going down.
