Cabin sizes

On the Miracle, the verandah cabins are labeled 8A up to 8H (I think) The higher the letter of the alphabet, the higher the cost. I'm wondering if there is any difference in the size of those cabins. I see the differences in, view and verandah sizes. But from the way the deck plans look, it's hard to tell about differences in cabin sizes.

I'm wondering if some of the cabin are actually larger than others (even though it doesn't show on the plans). If the more expensive cabins all had better views, or larger verandahs it would be easy to understand the price variations, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Some of the more expensive cabins seem to have smaller verandahs.

Near as I can see, Carnival is charging more, merely for being one deck up, even if everything else about the cabin is less desirable
Do those more expensive cabins possibly have some other feature to make them worth the extra money. (Additional cabin size is the only thing that would make it worth more money to me, if the verandah is smaller.)

Carnival's standard cabins are all 185 sq. ft. The exceptions are the suites and some of the higher cat 6 cabins (by higher I mean top deck) which are basically a 185 sq. ft. cabin plus the 35 sq. ft. balcony all combined into one large 220 sq. ft. cabin (no balcony). These are on the three Destiny and five Conquest class ships. These are the 6E cabins on the Spa deck. They all sleep four people and are designed for young families.

Cabins 8I, 8G, 8E, 8C, have balconies which measure 60 square feet. The rest have balconies that measure 40 square feet. The room sizes are the same unless you get one of those exception rooms like the aft ones.

Thank you Cruizer and Jetblue.

Hubby and I are presently in a great cabin (6232 with an extra large verandah), but our son and DIL may be joining us on this cruise, so we might give it up to be side by side, so may have to pick a new location. Your info will be helpful, if we do.

Interested in this cabin size post as we are booked on the Victory in May in an Empress deck aft balcony 7427, the last cabin on the left end of the afts. I read in an earlier email that 7424, which is the cabin on the opposite end of the group of eight aft cabins, seemed smaller than the others along the aft, and am wondering if this would also be true for 7427? I know 7427 has a sofa and 7424 does not, just wonder if we're going to have less than the 185 sq ft that should be in a balcony cabin. Thanks for any help on this and any photos of 7427 if someone has a few. Our first time on Carnival (only Norwegian before) and first time with an aft balcony. Hope it's all we think it will be!

Hello Sunniday,

I don't suppose that e-mail was from me? :lol ( I don't remember that, but it sounds like something I might have said. ) We were in cabin 7424 on the Victory a few year ago.

Cabin 7424 is a little smaller than it's neighbors, has smaller drawers, less storage and counter space, and no sofa like the other cabins have. It didn't een have a chair, other than the stool at the desk, until I complained several times. And even then all they brought was a tiny little upholstered chair that was really too small for a large adult to fit, much less relax in. The cabin did have a nice verandah, somewhat larger than the side facing cabins.

I have no idea if cabin 7427 is like, but FWIW here is a photo of 7424. There isn't much more to the cabin other than what you can see in this photo. There's only about another foot of floor between the other side of the bed and the verandah door. And that little table you see in the left corner isn't but two feet from the wall. That's where a chair should have been.

Oh my, yes...that was your post, Gayle V! And now I'm quite worried that since 7427 is the last one on the other end that it will be as tiny as the photo you post of 7424. (I'm assuming the deck is the same extended size as the others on the aft.) And I'm hoping a past user of 7427 may read this and let us know that 7427 is "normal" size. Thanks so much for responding...and if you or anyone can give me any of the "pluses" for being along the aft, Empress Deck, on the Victory, I would so appreciate it...

We just got off the Conquest for the 3rd time and we always get a balcony. This time we got a 9A (cabin 7440) on the back of the ship. We had a large balcony that went across the back and wrapped down the side of the ship. We loved it - we also had 2 large picture windows instead of just one. It was GREAT! We'll be looking for this type on cabin on all our future sailings. It was so nice.
The cabin was about the same size as a cat. 8 - loved it! We drove to the ship this time and we even packed 4 folding chairs in a box so we would have plenty of seating for our kids and grandchild to visit. It is soooooo nice to sleep with the door open at night and listen to the waves. Wish I was there right now - instead of sitting at work reliving it!

Yes the verandahs all extend back the same distance as the other cabins of the same deck.

I don't think I'd take another cabin with an ordinary side view verandah instead of this one, despite the slightly smaller cabin size. Unless you anticipate rainy weather. Our cruise was up to New England area, and we did have rain. I really missed having a comfy place to sit and enjoy my room service coffee and Danish on those mornings. If the weather had been nice, the verandah would have been wonderful with that extra verandah space.

And the view can't be beat. Still I have to warn that none of those aft verandahs are as much larger than the others as it would appear in the deck plans. This is because the entire aft of the ship angles inward and upward. Meaning theres a lot of deck space under the angled glass side rail, that you will never step foot on. I'm including a few photos that kind of show what I mean.

The angle kind of ruins any privacy you might have also, in that if you stand at the rail you can see right over onto your neighbors verandah. This was fine for us, as our neighbors were our very best friends. We loved chatting over the divider. Like in this photo.

The people on the decks above us, could see us only if we stood right at the rail. The rest of the verandah was covered.

And here are some views from the verandah.

I appreciate the info. We're excited to be aft - and think the larger deck will be quite a bonus. I agree that comfy indoor seating would be quite nice and too bad that it isn't available in every cabin. We're excited and can't wait to see our room, the deck, and the aft view!
