Cabin suggestion

Hi! We just booked on the Crown Princess and have a balcony cabin on Baja, center ship. We were thinking of upgrading our cabin to a mini-suite, however the mini-suites are on a lower deck, towards the back of the ship and were told no cover on the balcony. Our booked cabin on Baja is a non mini-suite but has a covered balcony. Since we like to sit on the balcony, but don't like too much sun, and we want to have more cabin space....we're not sure which one to go for. What are the pros and cons. Any suggestions. And, do you get any perks for a mini-suite....pre-boarding, etc? Any information appreciated. Thanks!

It is my understanding that the mini's on the Emerald deck are covered. Yes they are towards the back of the ship. Longer walk, better chance of loosing weight. :lol Depending on the sea conditions you might feel movement or hear vibration when docking/anchoring into port, if those are concerns for you.

Mini's will have a bathtub/shower vs a regular shower stall which is tiny. Mini's will have a couch vs a chair for additional seating inside the cabin.

Mini's will have a smaller balcony but more cabin space.

The perks for a mini are:
-Complimentary champagne at embarkation
-top of the range "Beautyrest" mattresses
-Luxury 100 Egyptian cotton, high thread count ivory satin striped bed linens
-Fluffy European duvets
-Pillow menu
-Massage shower heads
-Luxury towels

Great post Suer!
We've stayed in the minis and they are very nice rooms. As suer said, they are covered on the Emerald deck, however sometimes they are hard to get as they are booked pretty quick.

HI Sep,

If there's any way you can get one of the Emerald deck minis, you should do it.

This problem almost counts as a design flaw for the Crown and the Emerald Princess. Such a shame that passengers, in general have to choose between cabin size or verandah coverage. Making it worse is the fact that the standard verandah cabins on these ships are noticably smaller than a standard one on other ships/lines. The price doesn't seem to be any smaller though.

You might want to look at this other thread. It shows some photos of the Crown, to give an idea of which minis are covered.

Thank you all for your information. I think we'll stick with the cabin we have.
