My wife and I are going on our first cruise. I have been told that you canupgrade your cabin (if available) when you board the boat. Can you do this? Does anyone have any ideas on what the cost might be? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Wally

The cost is usually the difference in price between what you paid and the current cost of the new cabin. I'm sure once in a while a great deal comes around, but you can usually do just as well upgrading through your TA prior to sailing.

Our theory is always to book the best cabin we can afford and to choose the one we want - then there are no surprises.

Many more times than not, I see a sign in front of the Office indicating the ship is full and they cannot make any cabin changes.

Seeing as you are talking about a "paid upgrade", I agree with SueClark above....the best course is to book the cabin you want to begin with.

Also, even when they are able to offer "paid for upgrades" while aboard, you will often pay more than if you had pre-booked that cabin initially.

There are a lot of promo's going on right now. (promo 6). Check with your TA . You might be able to upgrade at a very reasonable cost or perhaps get a couple of bucks back.
