We are booked on the Ectasy/Elation out of Galveston on the 24th of September. Our cabin assignment is U18 very near the front of the ship. I read somewhere there is a lot of noice from the anchor there. Can anyone help?

If your itinerary includes ports where tenders are required to get ashore, you will likely experience some noise when the anchor is lowered or raised. The only western Car. port of call that I can think of that is in this catagory is Georgetown, Grand Cayman. If you are on one of the 4 or 5 day itineraries from Galveston, the ports of call may include Cozumel, Calica (Playa Del Carmen), or Costa Maya; all ports with docks (anchors not required).

Thanks for the information cruzman. My husband is a very light sleeper so this will be good for him.

When a ship "drops anchor" it's definitely a wake up call in the forward cabins~~!!~~

In all 18 Carnival cruises, I've never had to tender to a port....always anchored at the dock. The ships have indeed dropped anchor when at the dock!

I've had the very most forward cabins on Upper and Main Decks on several cruises, and I have definitely heard the anchor drop! It's usually around 7am, and I'm awake anyway, but it really is a very loud THUD. Only lasts a coupla seconds though, so no real biggie. LOL

Thank you to everyone who replied, but it was all for naught. lol. Good ole Rita made her debut and messed up the cruise. The good news is I was able to book a 7 day on the Conquest for not too much more money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sailing on the 9th...Everyone pray for no more hurricanes. This time we have a cabin middle of the aft. Thanks again. This is the best site going.!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Welcome to the October 9th cruise.

I'm looking forward to fun and relaxation...and healing - just had a car wreck a week ago. Ran around most of the week (after work) looking for a car to buy. Now that decision has been made, I'm realizing how stiff and sore I still am.
Hope our bed is comfortable on board ship!
Last trip (November 2004) everything was perfect!

Oh, don't get a cabin in the middle, thats where all the activity is. You'll hear people dancing all night and intoxicated guests singing thier way back to thier cabins.....oh wait, that would be me! Just kidding.
