Has anyone had a cabin directly under the galley? We just got upgraded to E170 on the Sensation and it is under the galley.I just wondered how the noise was? Thanks, Mariann

Noise is not usually a problem except when they move the walkin freezers.

occasionally you might hear a cart or something but really depends on where
you are, if you are under stationary stuff, all should be well.
Make sure and pack a sawsall, in case you are under the desert table.

We were in E132 on the Inspiration (sister ship)which was the worst cabin ever. We went on the galley tour and saw exactly what the problem was. The pot scrubbing area was right above us. All night and into the wee hours of the am there were crashing noise, heavy carts going over the water grates where they would fall off making a awful crashing noise. We even had security in our cabin at 2am to witness the noise to try and make some type of change. No avail. No empty cabins so gave us a big 15% off future cruise. I would steer clear of any rooms around that area. Learned a BIG lesson on that, same with the disco.

I had the same experience that rdonte had. I was on the Sensation last year right under the galley (cannot recall room number at this time.) There were a couple of times that I heard a crashing noise from above but it wasn't every night. I think I only heard it about three times during the whole cruise.

WE had a cabin under the galley. Don't do it all night long there was banging and things hitting the floor, from about 2am to 4 am. The next cruise we will be on the upper deck so there should be no noise, i hope.

We had an "upgrade" on the Century to under the galley.....HATED IT!!!! Noise was awful..... couldn't even sleep during the day because they are rolling the carts all afternoon too......

Would change that cabin if you can....

Hi

We recently were on the Elation.. and we were upgraded to a room under the galley (E151) and it was a great location, but the noise was pretty bad,, but the galley noise wasn't near as bad as the water drainage system that every few hours you would hear this huge bang and then lots of water draining... galley noise was off and on and it was just alot of banging, we kinda got used to it by the end of the cruise lol

good luck on your cruise :)

O.K. You guys are scaring me.I am hoping since we are right at the edge of the galley and in an outside cabin, that the noise won't be so bad.Wish me luck. Mariann

Mariann,
Check with your agent or carnival rep to see if there is any other options. Have them check up until boarding if necessary. If not then I would advise you to go directly to the pursers or call them at first noise and have them make a "Written Report" on the issue. Keep doing that as often as it takes. You should get some sort of compensation. In my instance I said those cabins should be sold as "night owl" cabins. Since we missed a tour in our first port to stay onboard and SLEEP we got the tour $$ refunded, but only after much hassel. Then the % off a future cruise. I would also advise you to ask for shipboard credit so you can spend the $$ at the noisey time in the casino or bar......I wish you good luck, noise free sleep and calm seas for your sailing.
