I'm barely able to contain myself, we leave on the Crown on October 12th and I can't wait, just wondering if anyone knows if I can find out which night the Bavarian night would be in the Cafe Caribe? Who would I need to ask, we want to make a reservation for the Steakhouse for the night they will be serving the German food in the buffet. This board is a great place to gather information to get the most out of your trip. I love reading the other posts when I have a cruise coming up, it builds the excitement for me.

Amistad, I'm not sure what night Bavarian will be but on embarktion day go to your room and look in the Patters. It will tell you where they are taking the specialty restaurant reservations. From there you can usually find out what the dining room menus are and I am sure they would know what night the Bavarian menu would be served.

You are right about the boards help build the excitement! Have a good time on your cruise. We will be sailing on the Emerald on the 21st. I would love for you to come back and tell me how Princess Cays is, considering all the hurricanes that have been going thru the area.

Whimsey, I always try to post a review when I get back, because the reviews on this and other boards are a big part of which cruise I choose, I won't get back until the 21st, because of our flight situation, but I will try to let you know on our sea day after the Princess Cays stop. I tried to book a bungalow, but it is waitlisted. I am taking my Daughter, her Husband, their 20 month old and my Mother, so the bungalow would come in very handy. Thanks for your reply, this is the first cruise we have eaten in the buffet at night, we figured with a toddler it would be easier so we don't interrupt another patrons meal in the dinning room, but my mother and I aren't too crazy about German food so we were going to try to eat at the specialty restaurant on Bavarian night and let them take little mister with them to the Cafe Caribe. I am very excited to try Princess for the first time, it seems the past cruisers are very loyal and the ships look very nice on the website.

We have been very pleased with our experiences on Princess. I'm sure you will have a good time. Good thinking about the bungalow. I hope you can secure one, there could be a cancellation.

I agree about the reviews. They really help when choosing a cruise.

Amistad - We are booked on the same cruise - October 12th. I think it's 19 days tomorrow and can't wait. We plan on eating in the Crown Grill as well, as Sterlings on the Diamond & Golden were fabulous. You will LOVE the meat...delicious. Everything about Princessis 1st class.

It probably seems that I obsess about food, but I noticed you have stayed in Ft Lauderdale before, we are staying at the airport Hilton, just wondering if you have eaten at the Rustic Inn Crab House it shows to be fairly close and looks like an interesting place to eat? We reside in a really small town in Texas with only a few restaurants so when we are vacationing we really love to eat. Thanks

This is so funny. Our dinner plans for the night before the cruise is - The Rustic Inn Crab House! I've never eaten there but have printed out the menu and looked it over. Everything sounds so good. We are staying at the Hampton Inn Airport and they have a shuttle that will take us over to the restaurant and then pick us up afterwards since its the 'pick of the house' favorite. We are taking the red-eye out of Los Angeles on Friday and arrive in Ft. Lauderdale early morning on Saturday and hopefully have the day to rest up and enjoy a good dinner. Not that we won't have enough to eat on-board! :chef

The Rustic Inn is a must do! We ate last September and really enjoyed ourselves. It's very casual. Ask for a table outside and you can watch the smaller planes land. We had visited Maho Beach that cruise and when the planes started flying by it brought back that day. I had the crab sampler or whatever it was called with all the different kinds of crab. YUM! DH had the fried seafood platter. We were stuffed!

Like you, I live in a small town and great dining places are few and far between. Being from Illinois we don't get fresh seafood either and love to have seafood while in Florida.

You both are getting me very excited about our cruise, for some reason I have had anxiety about this cruise, I don't know if it is the uncertainty about the economy or the earlier hurricanes this season or or if it's the thought of being responsible for my mother and grandson on this trip, but I have been very nervous this time around. I always over plan everything so I admit to being a bit of a control freak, hope when we get on the ship I can relax. Thanks

We are spending the night on the 19th and flying back on the 20th, I couldn't get all of our flights booked for the afternoon we get off the ship, because I use frequent flyer tickets from Southwest and they have recently made it very difficult to use very many at one time. I haven't stayed at the Hilton before, but bid on priceline and got it for 69.00 so for that price I figured it can't be too bad. We used to stay at the Embassy suites or the Sheraton, but they have gotten to be out of our price range.

You will be leaving as we are arriving. We fly in on the 20th.

I used to be able to get the Renaissance on 17th street on Priceline or Hotwire but it hasn't been coming up. We are staying at the Hyatt Place this time, got it thru valuetrips at a much cheaper rate. I'm sure you will be fine at the Hilton. Have a garlic crab for me at the Rustic Inn!

Amistad, once you get off the plane in FLL you will be in 'vacation mode' and ready to have a good time. The staff on Princess are exceptional - I've never encountered any problems. They are always ready to do whatever they can to make your trip comfortable, enjoyable and most of all....fun! Not that I'm counting but.....17 more days!! X(

Whimsey and Sep1109, You both are making feel better, I have to admit I am a little nervous taking a toddler, we took him last year when he was 5 months old and no problems, it's just that on the boards you sometimes read about people complaining about kids. I work 6 day's a week 10 hours a day and I want to enjoy the family on vacation, we won't be imposing on anyone and we will eat in the buffet or take turns with him, it's just making me worry that someone will get upset if he is loud or naughty even good babies have their moments. I agree with you I think once I'm sitting in a lounge chair reading my book I will be fine. Good to see I'm not the only on in countdown mode Sep1109. Thanks again

amistad, kids are kids. They get cranky at time and such. I think parents get so worried about the little ones they pick up on it and get more fussy sometimes! When DD was little we always took her out to restaurants and such so she could learn how to behave. If she got restless or fussy one of us always took her out until she was more calm. I really don't remember taking her out alot but I know she wasn't perfect.

On the other hand children that have a moment or two don't bother me. They are kids and the will behave like kids. Anyone who says anything would be griping about something else if it wasn't the child. I'm sure if a cruiser wasn't griping about a child they would be griping about the food, the air temp, the water clarity or something. Once a lady at church made a comment about DD acting up and it really upset my DH. I told him this woman griped about everything so it was just our turn that day.

Relax and have a good time! You can fret and worry all you want but it won't change a thing. Have fun with your son!
