Cafe in Marigot

We're going to St. Martin and I have this idea of just finding a little French cafe for lunch - some place where we can sit out on the patio and have a nice lunch.

Are these types of places abundant in Marigot? Can someone suggest a nice place for a light lunch?

Yes, Marigot had a lot of restaurants where you can sit outside. We didn't try any of them, but just walked around. I definitly recommend going there.

There's one right on the main corner with little umbrella tables outside. It was very charming--but I warn you the ladies room was unreal--there was a huge cutout onto the side alley---I was in shock at the lack of general hygiene!

Ahhhh Marigot!
Definitely check out the yacht harbour basin just off the main waterfront. It's called Pt Royale, or some such. Cafe's ring the dock. I've had wonderful meals there. Not sure if it still exists, but one called Tropicana with a green facade was especially good.

We were in Marigot the week of Nov 6, and we ate at the Tropicana. It WAS very good, and our waiter was especially fun. At the end of our lunch, he plopped down a large bottle of Absolut Vodka (banana-flavored) on the table with a shot glass for everyone, and said, "A little gasoline for the road". We were dubious at first, but I'll admit, that shot of banana-flavored vodka was fabulous!!! Very tasty!

If you get a chance, check it out!

I wasn't gonna mention the free booze, but......
My more Euro-centric friends tell me that is a Euro-style thing, giving a shot on the house to end the meal.

When I was there they served an obscure local rum infused with banana and vanilla bean. wow!

Then I say, "Viva la France!" Which I never thought I would say! I wish we could adopt that custom here in the U.S.... that was some GOOD stuff!!!
