Just wondering if my 3 year old girl and 5 year old boy would be capable of climbing the falls in Jamaica? If not, what other things can the children do on the island? Is margaritaville appropriate? Thanks.
I would not recommend them climbing the falls. It is steep in a couple of areas and would probably be more of a inconvienance for you to try to help them along. Highly recommended though for any adults or teens. Margaritaville when I was there two years ago was a blast and would be fine for the kids to be at. There are water activities associated with the restaurant but they may be to young to fully enjoy it.
I loved Margaritaville in Ocho Rios! I loved the hot tub and swim up bar. The entertainment is fun, and it's a great laid back atmosphere that safe and friendly.
I wouldn't even try it. I'm 5'2", and my DH had to haul me up some of the steep sections. You'd pretty much have to carry the kids, and then you wouldn't be able to balance yourself.
Defintely would NOT be safe for 3 to 5 year old let alone any children under 10
years old! Children would have to be a certain height and be able to climb hand-to-
hand. Even some adults need some assistance. I would seriously doubt that
management at the falls would even allow children that young to climb the falls!
I am assuming that you are referring to the Dunn's River Falls. Even if you choose to carry your children while climbing the falls, you would run the risk of getting yourselves
and the children hurt because the falls are very slippery (recommend you wear
water shoes) and in some places very steep.
Margaritaville is a good alternative- a fun place for the family!
Thanks for the info. I guess I'll look into other alternatives for the day. Margaritaville sounds like a good idea. Thanks so much for all your advice!
I agree with all previous posts on the Falls not being a good idea for your little ones......one thing to add.....the force of the water against your feet as you grip each rock is quite forceful in places, it would be impossible for them to get a grip. Give them a few years.
