Can I do my own tipping on NCL cruise line?

I am cruising on NCL with two children. They prefer to eat at the buffet for their meals.
I am wondering if NCL will allow me to do my own tipping for meal service and cabin service. I am a big tipper but I prefer to do it myself to people who do provide service
to my family. This is my first time cruising with them.

All ships except the Norway deduct tips automatically from your onboard account. Norway still has traditional tipping. $10 per adult and children 13 and above per day and $5.00 per day for children from 3 to 12. At the end of the cruise you can have this figure adjusted either up or down as you see fit.
Enjoy your cruise.

You can request the tips not be applied to your bill, just let the reception desk know a couple of days before the end of the cruise. Then ask for envalopes and do as you have in the past. Some say all tips all pooled now, so whether those you tip will be able to keep their tips or not, I have no idea. I don't know who would know if you tipped separately, but if that is what you prefer, give it a try. We have not tried this, we just have the amount applied to our bill. Daughter and I did add extra, using envalopes for our cabin steward and assistant on the Sun last April as they were so very good.

Hope this helps a little anyway.

Starr, If you're really a big tipper why don't you just let NCL deduct their small amounts from your account, and then carry envelopes with you so you can increase your tip as you go along.

It seems most "big tippers" forget to tip at all.
