Yup no problem at all. Carnival allows you to bring on non-alcoholic beverages. Tea is served for free at the Lido Deck buffet and in the main dining rooms.

I've heard that they don't do too much detail searching for alcohol and the like. Can anyone confirm? It sure would be nice to save a ton of money on drinks by bringing a bottle or two. If nothing else, I'll be bringing some bottled "water". Some of which might taste like vodka or Sauza. ;)

It's kind of like customs...sometimes you can sneak thru, sometimes you can't. The worst thing is they confiscate the stuff...but most times they won't bother you...they want you to have a pleasant trip and probably won't look too closely...unless you aren't smart and become too obvious. :)-D

They make flasks that you can pour your beverage of choice in that are invisible to x-ray detection. Last cruise, we brought along the equivalent of a couple of bottles of booze, along with a 12 pack of diet coke. We still rang up several hundred dollars and the S&S card, but it was nice to have those in our room for nighcaps and entertaining our tablemates.

I have been sailing for a long time more than 12 times. I only drink Cooks Champagne and Pepsi so I bring both never had a problem. The only time you may run into a problem is during spring break. They dont like sping breakers smuggling on there own alcohol.

Hi Jeff, just lock your luggage before you give it to the cruise ship porters. Make sure your bottles are tightly in a plastic bag.

For those vodca drinkers. I heard that when you put vodca in a water bottle...... it has some bubbles that can tell it is vodca and not water. But I don't think that the cruise ship security will do that type of check.

Try the test at home and see if you can tell the difference. I think the difference is that the bubbles are super tiny in vodca.... and water has large and small bubbles.

OH MAN!!! Homeland Security is getting too sharp for us pirate liquor smugglers. Arrrrrgghhhh.... One Eyed Pirate Wench, Luci

Absolutely NO PROBLEM with bringing soda onboard. You can carry it on or put it in your suitcase. I do the "other stuff" also with no problem...another "cheaper" option is to take 2L bottles, wrap them up in your suitcase, bring a small collapsable cooler and ask your cabin steward to keep it filled with ice & keep your bottles cold in the cooler. (Fridges are NEVER cold enough IMO) There are glasses provided in your cabin to make yourself a drink. Have a great cruise.

On my last Carnival cruise (out of Long Beach) I saw people trying to sneak in alcohol in water bottles. I also saw the security person shake the bottle, declare it was alcohol and not water, open and smell and then toss it in a HUGE trash can behind her. I saw this over and over and over. She was checking the walk on luggage. I think if you put it well packed in your "checked" luggage, there will be no problem.

I also saw, when we sailed out of New Orleans, there was a liquor shop right on the pier. people would go through the security check in, dump their stuff in their rooms and walk back off and go in the liquor store and come out with tons of bags and carry it right on.
