Can teenagers have their own inside cabin?

Hi

My boyfriend and I have cruised with RC about 5 times BUT we have never taken his sons who are aged 14 and 11. We are thinking of taking them in 2007 and we would like to book one balcony cabin and one inside cabin. Obviously wanting them to have the inside cabin- but i have heard that this against RC regulations and if discovered we would have to disembark! Is this true as i swear on past cruises i have seen where two children are in an inside cabin and the parents are opposite. My travel agent has said that the booking would have to be done with one adult and one child in each cabin but that we could alter this on board but im a little hesitant to go down that road. Anyone any experience of this please. Thanks.

Yes they can. The rule is that they must be directly next door to or directly across the hall from their parents' cabin. Lots of families get an ocean view for mom & dad and put the kids in an inside cabin right across the hall.

You can always book yourself and one child in one cabin, and you boyfriend and the other child in the other cabin. When you board the ship you can have the sea-pass cards straightened out at the pursers office so that the kids have access to the inside cabin and you and your boyfriend have access to both cabins.

I actually know the information regarding kids traveling with parents because I am a travel agent. Specifically a cruise specialist for the past five years out of my 13 years as a T/A.

The policy I told you (across the hall or next door) is correct if you are talking about Royal Caribbean, I book families that way all the time.

As sheffie posted you can always register one adult and one child in each cabin and then occupy the cabins as you choose (They don't do bed checks ;) ) Either way works fine but booking the kids in one and the adults in the other avoids confusion.

Hope you have a great cruise :thumb

We have twice, with RC, booked with one adult and one child in each cabin, then upon checking in made the change so the sea passes are correct. Never once were we questioned. The last time we automaticly booked all three girls together and my husband and I together with a cabin between us......again no problems.

One of the benefits of booking an adult in each room is you can then use any Crown & Anchor coupons against both cabins.

I did this recently on the Freedom....my friend was booked in one cabin with my son's friend...and she was able to use her C & A coupon...and I had my son in mine..so I could use my coupon. Once we got onboard..we went straight to the Pursers Desk and requested the two lads have their own cabin/seapass accounts....no problem.

Can I just say....if you are giving the kids their own seapass accounts...ie...Cash account...remember to sign the form that only allows them to only use the cash amount on their accounts...otherwise there they could run up a large bill.

Every c & a member gets their own coupon book, so no problem with eachmember using the tickets, regardless of cabin.

Assuming both parents have reached at least the Platinum level with RCI:

Sometimes you have to split the parents up - one each each cabin with the one teen - because that's the only way you'll get to use your Crown & Anchor discount. Even though our kids have been on many RCI cruises, they won't reach their status with RCI and get their own coupons until they're 18, hence we have to split up or book a suite. =dunno

Sorry but you dont have to be Platinum to get the coupons which can be used for price reduction, all C & A members qualify for getting the coupons.
You do though have to be Platinum or above to get the balcony discount.

Happy cruising

Elizabeth, that's what I was talking about - the balcony C&A discount. We always get at least a balcony for the boys. :)
