Can you debark the ship earlier if you request it?

We are on RCI Grandeur of the Seas which debarks in Tampa at 8:00 a.m. We have a flight leaving from TPA at 3:00 p.m. later that afternoon which should leave us plenty of time even if we debark later or Customs runs behind a couple of hours.

However, I read here (and I cannot find the original post) where you can debark the ship earlier if you carry off your own bags in the morning? Did I read that correctly, and if so, how does it work? Do you tell them you have a flight to catch when you embark or the night before you debark? We booked the flights separately from the cruise. We are on a higher deck and I have heard that the higher decks debark first. Any positive feedback much appreciated. Thanks.

You will fill out a form during the cruise, telling when your flight is, or if you are being picked up by family or have other transportation. You will then be given colored tags. It is not by deck, but by the need to leave the ship. If you have a later flight, ask for a later tag color, go to the dining room, enjoy your breakfast. You do have to be out of your room by 8:00 (that is the usual time that they ask so the room steward can clean the rooms), but then can go and sit in one of the public areas till it is time for you to leave the ship.

They have an early debarkation that starts between 7-7:30am. You must sign up for it when you are on the cruise. You do have to carry all of you luggage off and debark early.

We cruised this month and would have loved to do this but we had our 4 kids with us and too much luggage.

yes, you can disembark...I cannot remember the "term" they use for what this process is called...buy you carry your luggage off and are the first to disembark. And it does not depend on your deck as to how you are color coded to be called off, it depends on air flight times. And if you did not book with the cruise line then you have to show proof of flight w/your ticket to request a early color to diembark.
Have fun on your cruise! :)

You can debark early...the term for it is TravelLite. You carry your own bags off the ship, but just remember the elevators are usually jammed packed on this day and lugging suitcases up and down is not fun....you can leave early though!!!

Just disembarked EOS yesterday...red tag...did not sign up for anything....just left! You have to carry your luggage, of course. Left the ship around 8:30....was first color called. I had my own flight separate from cruise. Took taxi to airport instead of ship transfer. On MOS in December, did the same thing. Had luggage, got in line and proceeded to disembark. No problems whatsoever! Enjoy your cruise.
