Can you sneak wine onboard?

I am sailing soon...and wondered since sept 11th, how strict are they about sneaking liquor onboard the ship?
We are sailing on the Imagination...and this is our first cruise since Sept 11th

We just carried it on in our carry on bag. No problem, the documents states that we could have one bottle of fine wine to celebrate a special occasion. I would call going on a cruise a special occasion.

No need to 'sneak' wine. I've taken wine in my carryon bag on all my Carnival cruises. When I get to the inspection point I just tell the person I have wine bottles in the bag. Sometimes they ask me to take the bottles out of the bag once it has passed through the scanner, and sometimes they don't but I always tell them upfront I have wine.

What if you want to bring a BOX of wine? We have found some decent box wines (okay, everybody snicker) that we would love to bring aboard so we can sit on the deck and chill out and not spend a small fortune with ship wine. Surely is a bit more than a one bottle to celebrate.

So, should you say something, or just keep moving? We actually are thinking about putting one box in our carry on and another in our primary suitcase.

We always carry our wine on. My husband carries a few in his overnight bag, we also put some in our luggage. Never ever have had one break. Just make sure you consume it in your cabin. We usually will ask for wine glasses from room service, if your cabin steward is on top of things he will replace them daily. Remember to pack your cork screw with your checked luggage-don't carry it on.

Wine and liquor are two differrent things. Moderate amounts of wine, soft drinks, water can be carried on. Liquor and mass amounts of liquid contraband should be put in your checked luggage.

As far as "box" wine, we brought a 3 liter box of wine on last year's Carnival Legend and Golden Princess cruises. We bought the boxes at Winn-Dixie across from Embassy Suites in Fort Lauderdale and, since you could bring wine on board, just put it in our carryon. As far as a box being larger than a bottle, no mention is made in the cruise brochures as to how large a bottle you may bring on board. Here are some wine bottle sizes and their equivalent in 750 ml. The box wines are great to pour from for a quick glass of wine on your balcony.

I wraped my wine in bubble wrap, put it in lg. zip lock bags and wrapped with t-shirts. I didn't think you could take glass on the plane since 9/11. That also made sure I had room to bring stuff home. Had to drink the wine to make room for the "stuff"

We live in Ft lauderdale...so its just a car ride...no plane thank goodness...
I think I'll put wine in my carryon and pack some...just to be on the safe side..lol

We were just on the Conquest 2/22 sailing......

Wheeled in a case of wine in a carry-on (collapsible wheeled cooler). No problem.

We did the same on Royal Olympia last year and the Carnival Holiday the year before.

Don't worry about wine. You can carry that on. Stash your hard stuff and beer in your checked bags.

(Disregard the "a bottle for a special occasion" line. Carnival clearly states that you can bring on wine, and if you wish to drink it in the dining room, you'll be charged a corkage fee)

When we went on royal caribbean..my husband put vodka in a vintage selzter bottle...lol and brought his lemonade along...
we bought wine in cozumel and snuck it on...
as for carnival..i was pleased to see that it wil be easy to bring wine onboard.
i really enjoy a nice glass or three at bedtime...

I snuck on a large water bottle of Brandy and another of citrus vodka and ended up bringing 90% of it back! I enjoyed the "drinks of the day" offered by the ship at minimal cost ($2.95 I think) and the contraband reminded me of my "home" drinks, exactly what I did not want to be reminded of! I am not a wine drinker, but if you are bringing your own is smart, the wine is very pricey! But if you just enjoy a fruity fun drink stick to the "drinks of the day" on board and enjoy your vacation! The liquor takes up a ton of space in your luggage and in my opinion not really worth it.

Ok. I'm clear on the wine and alcohol issue..... What I'm not sure about is how to ask this question. If anyone is offended, I'll apologize now. But I'm very curious about just "how well" they check your baggage. Please don't get the wrong idea....nothing illegal...just maybe an adult toy.....

Well it goes through x-ray, so I think it would be pretty easy to figure it out. I think at the worst someone would have a good laugh and believe me you wouldn't be the first person..... ENJOY!!!

I think lots of people bring these "items" along. I have actually heard that some like to put them on top, so when the TSA goons go through your bags at the airport they get a little shocker.

I ended up haveing security checks coming and going. Different bags. The airport zip ties the bag total up after the check. The one they tore apart on the way home had the lacy & stuff in it. Felt kind of violated but understand the need.
