My husband and I are seriously considering the Canada/New England cruise out of New York harbor for next October. Has anyone taken this cruise on Princess? We would be interested in your impressions.

My wife and I took the New England Canada cruise on the Golden out of New York. We live here which made this cruise very possible. I must say though that since one of my dreams was to sail on the Grand but couldn't because after it was christened back in 98 right here in NY, It was never seen again here.

So along comes the Golden!~ GREAT! I'm outta here!! Golden/Grand, twin sister. I went for the ship itself.

It was an October cruise, so no kiddies. Weather was wonderfull except for one night we stayed ahead of a pretty healthy storm. The swells were between 15-18 foot high. With Golden Princess being 109,000 tons and being equipped with stabilizers 26 feet long and ten feet wide, we were quite stable.

One full day at sea, with plenty of activities, we had a great time. I do recommend when you board, make your reservations for Sabatini's. wonderfully Italian. The waiters really, really go out of their way for you. I wanted some peppermint Ice-cream so the runner actually went to another part of the ship to get it. Had I known that I would have gotten something else. Superb service. Food... very good, we were very satisfied.

Halifax, Nova Scotia was the first port and only port very, very rich in maritime history and they are very proud of it. And rightfully so. They were the first people to arrive and the titanic when she sent out her first calls. We took a wonderfull tour that included the Halifax maritime museum, and tour of Halifax, including the citadel and they wanted to show us the public gardens but thanx to Hurricane Juan, the gardens were destroyed and will take generations to bring them back to where they should be. Our last stop was the cemetary where for bodies from the Titanic wreck were brought. Very nice experience. Princess hires very good tour companies. Extremely knowledgable.

As it's been said many times before, a cruise is what you make of it. We had a wonderful time with plenty of activities and we participated in as many as we could.

The Golden is a magnificent lady. If the Price, Itinerary and place it leaves is right for us, we will be heading right back on board.

Thanks so much for your endorsement! We sailed on the Grand Princess on October 12 of this year. It was our first cruise in 9 years and we had a marvelous time. We live near Atlantic City, NJ, so sailing out of New York harbor is easy for us, too. And no air fare!
