I would like to hear from anyone who has taken a cruise to this area during the month of october. How was the weather (probably mostly cold?) What were your favorite ports and most interesting excursions? I am in the process of signing up for excursions but i can't decide. Some of them overlap each other in each port and can't figure out the best ones. Thank you in advance for any input you can offer.

As a New Englander, my advise is you should plan on the weather being pretty cool if not cold especially at sea and in the port towns. However, as the days wear on, temperatures will rise in the 50 to 60's. As in every cruise, try not to schedule too much. Take a half day tour in the morning then return for lunch on board and walk around the port cities during the afternoon. Peggy's Cove is one of my favority scenic stops near Quebec. There are good local tours too, which you could catch if time allowed. Portland, ME I would drive up the coast to Damiscotta to the most picturesque lighthouse that I know of. Stay off the rocks! It can be dangerous. You could easily rent a car for that one. Take a ship's tour if your ship stops at Bar Harbor to Arcadia National Park. Don't forget hat and gloves, just in case the weather turns raw. If you stop in Boston, just take a Trolley tour and get on and off at places that interest you.
Bon Voyage

Thank you very much for your input. I live in Florida and this is my first trip to your area.

For a Floridian you will be cold...lol. If you live near the water in Florida or a little seaport town forget Peggy's Cove..long drive and if the fog rolls in..you see nothing.. I recommend you hire a taxi for a tour...they are along the boardwalk although I have the phone # of one... and the ladies at the pier will be glad to help you out. The highlight of our first cruise there (we are from outside of Boston) was a visit to the graves of the Titanic victims.. the most moving moments, then our driver took us to the Citadel and we called when finished and he dropped us off at the waterfront for lunch. Last trip we took a tour and ended up at the Maritime Museum next to the water.. it was September and just before the storm that destroyed the trees in the beautiful park. We love Halifax and it's people.. In Boston I highly recommend taking a Duck Tour...(don't take it in Halifax) As a Bostonian we had the opportunity to take fellow cruisers who did the same tour and were more than pleasantly surprised how great it was and we hope to do it again this summer...or after most tourists have left. If you want more information on the Duck Tour please write.. I think it can be picked up at Quincy Market too. Bar Harbor the Arcadia Tour would be great and there is a great lobster shack at the waterfront...where I have to admit we had the best lobsters ever..Portland...the old port is charming...Are you going to St. John? St. John doesn't hve much but great people, pubs, Reversing Falls and another lobster shack next to the cruise piers..lol. If you need more info please write.
