Canadian Dollar equals US Dollar

Hey this is really big news around our area. We live very close to the Canadian border, and for years the US citizens went to Windsor, Ontario for purchases because of the value of the dollar.

Now it's just the opposite, the Canadians are coming here to make purchases!

We used to go to the Casino in Windsor, and at one time we would get $1.50 Can. for our US dollar. That meant a lot more coins for the slots :)

Now, since it's the same dollar value, a lot of gamblers are staying in Detroit. They feel no advantage going to Windsor.

But me....I love it at the Windsor Casino....No Smoking! And it's a beautiful casino with some great restaurants too!

Maybe we Canucks can all cruise a bit more now. Let me tell you it sure makes a huge difference from when it was 62 cents a few yrs ago.

The borders line ups going south now are really a pain. NOrth bound not so bad as it's easier to get into Canada than out.

Talk about lines...

They wait for hours and hours to get across the Detroit-Windsor borders.

The had to set up Port-a-john's for the truck drivers on the bridge!

Even though the dollars are now in parity, it won't stop me from visiting your beautiful country, as I have for many years. :)

Down here they are saying our dollar may reach parity soon. I am keeping an eye on it, as it will make a BIG difference to our final payment for Volendam next year. Currently our $ is around US$0.86.
