I've booked the Carnival Fascination cruise for December 16 and am considering canceling. Is anyone booked on an upcoming Fascination cruise? If you are what are you thinking about doing?

I am booked on the victory for dec 15th... There is no way i would cancel my crusie... The media is blowing way out of proportion what is happening.. This illness happens on every crusie... it is usually only about 2-4% of the people that get sick... recently it has been about 6%... just a little more than normal.. The virus is not dangerous and has about the same effects as the day after you eat taco bell. I wouldn't worry about it.

I'm booked to go on the Fascination January 10. Since I still have awhile before the cruise I'm not cancelling. Although you only have a few days to go before boarding, I don't think you should cancel. I've heard that most of the people didn't get sick until Sunday evening (last full day) - so I would chance it. Look at the bright side - if you do get the Norwalk virus, then you're basically just getting rid of all of the weight that you would have gained. Have fun and try not to worry about it. Just keep drinking mai tai's and you'll be fine.

Please the home page storey from the CDC. Several cruisers had the right anticdote. Drink plenty of wine! Buy some Purell, and use it frequently on your hands. Pack your bags and plan to have a great vacation.

I contracted Bronchitis once while sailing in the Mediteranean along with over 2000 other passengers. There were at least 80 of us who also came down with the same ailment. The ship's doctors blamed the airplanes! How could this be? We were from all different parts of the country and flew on different planes. Illness happens more often than we realize on a cruise ship. I will not let this current public release of these illness statistics scare me and ruin my next vacation.

Take vitamin C, get a flu shot, rest, and drink plenty of water and wine!

Also - think about the odds of actually catching something. Lets say there's approx. 2500 on your cruise (I think that's how many were on the last Fasc. cruise) and only 190 got sick. You have got a 13% chance of getting it. Basically, you have a better chance getting seasick than contracting Norwalk.
