Cancellation Policy?

Hi Everyone,
Can someone tell me what Carnival's Cancellation policy is? Or even better, can you direct me to a website where I can read it? Since I'm not the one booking this cruise, I won't have any paper work or anything, so I'm just wondering what it is. We are doing the 4-day cruise to Catalina Island/Ensenada, Mexico cruise on Paradise in July 2006. Not sure if that makes a difference, but just in case..... I appreciate any answers I can get.

If youdo not book with the cruiselines check the agent that you book with--some of those agents will charge you to take your booking then charge if you cancel or transfer it out.

Thanks so much jleq1. That's exactly what I wanted to know. Since my step-mom is the one booking the cruise, and I can't get a definite answer out of my DH yet, I was thinking maybe she can just go ahead and book with the free upgrade sale that's going on, and if we can't go, she can just cancel us. We will know WELL before the 61 days.

Serene56 - My stepmom is booking the cruise as I just stated to jleq1, she has a friend that is a TA, so I'm not really sure that there would be any charges from her friend for cancelling. I didn't know that about some TA's though, thanks for the info.

It just cost me a$250 cancellation fee when my daughter broke up with her boyfriend(not just for that, he was supposed to come on the cruise). I knew the rule ahead of time so that was my problem. I did have a question about booking within the time that there is charge for cancelling. If I book 45 days from sailing and I call back that afternoon to cancel, does it cost me $250 since I cancelled within 60 days even though I only made the booking hours before?

Whew--that would suck. I would have asked how come I didnt get 24 hours to change my mind.

I know with air tickets when youbuy them you are already ticketed. I would think that if you changed your mind for a cruise its not tickets-- unless you cancelled the whole cabin and moved your daughter into another cabin with others. But if he was the 3rd person.. I dont see how that agent could have charged you. DId you speak to a supervisor?

Dear Serene,
I am getting more forgetful these days (senior moments) but didn't you disagree with Ruffy when he suggested I should register a concern about my upsetting change of cabin assignments that occured when my daughter's boyfriend cancelled? I didn't disagree with you then, that if the cabin was for three and I now had only two the cruise line should be able to sell that extra spot if they can; but how do I justify the position that I shouldn't be charged the cancellation fee? Cruizer says if its a rule and you were on notice of it you can't complain.

Rules are rules and I agree with taht-- but com'on-- you cancelled a 3rd person not a cabin and you did this within a few hours of booking. Its not like you waited a bunch of days. For that reason alone I think the 3rd person rate should have NOT been paid.

Thats the platform you should take with the agent and with a supervisor--

you cancelled a third person within a few hours of booking. you did NOT cancel the cabin and you were moved from a cabin that holds 3 people. Now if you were able to keep that cabin things might be differnt.
