New Captain Morgan on the Rocks Island Bar Opens on Half Moon Cay

Here are the first shots from the new Captain Morgan on the Rocks Island Bar that will celebrate its grand opening Jan. 29 at Half Moon Cay with the visits of ms Noordam and ms Maasdam.
The bar is designed as a 101-foot-long, twin-decked, three-masted schooner “washed up†on Half Moon Cay’s white-sand beach, and the bar décor features nautical artifacts and historic references to Captain Morgan’s exploits in these waters more than 350 years ago.
Matthew Sams, vice president, Caribbean relations for Holland America Line, who is responsible for the operations of Half Moon Cay, oversaw the concept, design and construction of the new bar, which began in Sept. 2010 and was just completed at the end of December. Holland America Line collaborated with Diageo Global Travel & Middle East (GTME), the world’s leading premium drinks business that created Captain Morgan Original Spiced Rum in 1983.

We are scheduled to be there 2 times on our 20 day cruise. The first time we are there -- 2 HAL ships will be there. UGH -- I hate that.

Yonnie.. when we were there at Thanksgiving it looked like this.
So they really accomplished a lot, as one of the people that was involved with this told us at that time that they did not think they would make the opening.

We were also there in Nov/Dec and I took a picture of it while it was being constructed -- it was in my review.
Some people on the other board are reporting that the HAL Cats are playing there and the music is very LOUD!! And that the people in Cabanas 5 and 6 - next to it have lost their peace and quiet.
