This is my first Princess cruise in Jan now is there something I need to purchase ahead that will help expidite some things or is this all earned with number of Princess cruises.?
Hawkeye is right - as soon as you sail on Princess the first time they enroll you into the Captain's Club. On your next cruise you are eligible for past passenger rates (sometimes these are great - other times there are better specials available), you'll get their newsletter, captains club receptions on future cruises as well as collectors pins.
For express checkin, just go to http://www.princesscruises.com/home.jsp and click on Cruise Personalizer. When you get there, it says you can Register for Express Check-in by providing your immigration and emergency contact. Hint--when you fill in the information, be sure to click on 'confirm changes' and then when that takes you to the Booking Summary be sure to click on 'Save My Changes'. Otherwise, you lose everything and have to start over.
Yes Maw, after you have sailed the first time you will receive a past passenger (captain's circle) number for both you and paw. There is no way to expedite except to fill out the forms on their web site which will give you the express check in, it really does make it faster. Your captain's circle number will give you advantages for future cruises and invites to special things while on board your next Princess sailing.
On our recent Regal Princess cruise the crew hinted at Princess changing or "enhancing" their Captain's Club to be a little more meaningful than a pin - something where there is a more tangible award which changes as one has more cruises under their belt. I envision it to be something as they are doing with Celebrity's Captain's Club but not as classy as Crystal's.

Just received a mailing from Princess today detailing the new Captain's Circle perks to go into effect September 1. It says that all Captain's Circle members will be receiving a packet with new cards and all info. Two levels - 2+ Gold - 6+ Platinum.
I'm sure all Captain's Circle members will get their mailing within the next few days.
Other than the levels, what does one get besides a new card. (G) We are easily Platinum level. We were Commodore in the old scheme. Seems like there should be more levels.

The free internet access is the best item I see on that list. I wonder if that means for those who bring their own lap tops?
I've always thought that these cruise lines were missing out on a fantastic marketing ploy. They should give each passenger a number of free emails that would include pictures of the ship and some other enticing views to encourage those receiving the emails to want to cruise.

You are so right on that the only thing of any value is the internet access. As renting their laptops costs $7.50 for 15 minutes, catching up on email can be very costly. I agree that the cruise lines should emulate Disney in providing form emails that can be sent to friends and family that would automatically be advertising for the cruise lines. Disney does this very successfully in Orlando.
