We are sailing the Caribbean Princess to St. Thomas and St. Maarten. I would love to know what others have done in terms of excursions. What did you like the best or
least about them.

We did the Golden Eagle catamaran in St. Maarten. It was the highlight of the cruise. We still talk about it and are doing it again this time. The catamaran is large enough to accommodate 100 people, however there were 65 on it the day we sailed and there was plenty of room. We went to the leeward side of the island as the winds were kicking up, instead of going to Tintamarre. The snorkeling was fun. They anchor about 100 yards off the beach and you can swim to the beach or snorkel in the cove. The water is about 8 to 10 feet deep. Champagne, beer and sandwiches were served on the way back. We had a ball. On the way back, the captain steered the catamaran into the waves, causing the water to come through the webbing on the front. All the kids loved getting splashed!! I would highly recommend it. $76 each person. Play at St. Maarten and shop at St. Thomas.

Thank you! From what I've read on other message boards this excursion is very
popular. It sounds like so much fun. Can't wait until we sail!

We booked an independent 1/2 day sail on the Winifred in St. Thomas, which was WONDERFUL. We were picked up in Red Hook around 9:30, returned around 3:30. It is a 43' wooden sailboat captained by Sharon Allen and her first mate Alison. They take a max. of 6 people and the price includes, cont. breakfast, a hot lunch and open bar. We were taken to near Caneel Bay for wonderful snorkeling and the sights were spectacular. She has music on board and plenty of room to catch some sun and just take in the sights. You can also help with the sails if you like

What a relaxing way to spend a day in St. Thomas, away from the crowds of people on ship tours. The cost is $125 per person to reserve the trip, $100 if you pay in cash the day of the trip.

I can't recommend highly enough this tour - I never cared much for St. Thomas until we took this trip!

Check it out at www.sailwinifred.com

jodi - You won't be sorry - this is a GREAT excursion. The max. of 6 people is so much better than those crammed ship excursions. I'd booked ASAP since it only takes such a few people, her dates can fill up quickly. Capt. Sharon is also really good about replying to any questions and quickly answers any e-mails.

I had been to St. Thomas many times in the past but never truly enjoyed it until this trip.

Kathy,

I just booked the Winifred. I can't wait to go! Captain Sharon is a super sweet lady. She sent a wonderful e-mail to answer my questions and also added much more information for me. Talked to her on the phone to book , she is a riot. Thanks again for the great suggestion.

I guarantee you'll have a WONDERFUL day in St. Thomas on the Winifred with Capt. Sharon. She has been doing this for years and is very knowledgeble and treats you like family. She will provide you a cont. breakfast, a delicious hot homemade lunch served on china with flowers and music and an open bar. There is plenty of room to stretch out and read, nap or just enjoy the beautiful scenery. You can even help with the sails if you like. She provides snorkel equipment if you like and her own invention of "Winnie Wings" for those who don't snorkel but want the experience. She will take you to beauiful coves for great viewing. It's a wonderful, relaxing way to spend the day and you'll still have time to do shopping or whatever when you're done.

I envy you, wish we were going back!

Same thing as Kathy. Wenifred! It ROCKS!
Captain Sharon was the best. My husband who has NEVER snorkeled (nor does he really swim) would not stay out of the water! It is so worth the $$$$

St Martin and St. Thomas are the two best island on the cruise. One day does neither of them justice.

Driving in St. Martin is easy. Roads are good and they drive on the right side. We rented a car and drove around the entire island. Had a great lunch at a French Restaurant in Marigot, and spectacular beach at Orient Beach. We rented from Budget at the Cruise ship dock for $60. The shopping is great here too.
