I just booked cabin E728 for the inaugural cruise on April 17, 2004. Plenty of good seats are still available...:)

Lucky you, SpongeRob!
For some reasons, I am really excited about this ship.
The dive-in experience seem s like a great idea.
Do they have a deck plan yet?

What's the dive-in experience?

There is no info on the Princess site about this ship yet. No surprise, they're not too quick about updating anything, and you won't find any mention of it on the "Plan Your Voyage" page yet, either.

From what I know so far, there will be a giant screen by the main pool and people will be able to dine and watch movies in the open. It will also be used for big sporting events. That has never been done before!
Here's the details I found on cruisemates.cin

"The fourth Grand-class ship, Caribbean Princess will enter service April 17, 2004. Originally announced as Crown Princess the name change is fitting as the vessel will sail year-round from Ft. Lauderdale on alternating Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries. At 116,000-tons, Caribbean Princess is 7,000 tons larger than the other Grand-class ships Grand, Golden and Star Princess. Caribbean Princess will boast nearly 900 cabins with balconies, the largest number of any ship afloat. A unique feature of the new vessel will be 'Dive-In-Movies' shown under the stars on a giant, Times Square-style screen by the swimming pool. Other features of the ship will be a new Caribbean-themed alternative restaurant, Princess' trademark Italian trattoria, Lotus Spa, four pools, three separate show lounges, an Internet café and a wedding chapel where couples can be married at sea by the captain.

Caribbean Princess' Western itineraries call at Grand Cayman, Ocho Rios (or Montego Bay), Cozumel and Princess Cays, the line's private island in the Bahamas. Ports for the alternating Eastern Caribbean itinerary are St. Thomas, St. Maarten and Princess Cays."

Any deck plan BTW? *lol*

I'm almost afraid that I'll find the deck plan and discover that E728 is no longer the cabin with the big balcony. I'd be mad at myself for the next year.

:jump :jump :jump This is great news as we are planning to take back-to-back cruises on this ship to celebrate our 10 year anniversary in Feb. 2005! I've already email my TA to get me any info as soon as she can. :jump :jump :jump

I am looking for more info on the Caribbean Princess. Where did SpongeRob book the inaugural sailing?

I called my TA and she took care of it. I read that the ship was taking bookings on the Princess page over at CC, and gave my personal travel assistant a call. She had it taken care of in about 20 minutes.

There isn't much info on the ship, at least nothing that I've been able to find. I'm assuming that it will be similar to the previous Grand-class ships built in Italy, with the exception that an additional deck is being added to increase capacity from 2600 to 3100. Time will tell whether the additional cabins hurt the "feel" of the ship or not.

My TA said that they are now taking bookings through 12/04. It won't be long and we will be able to book our 2005 back to back cruise! :jump

New information about the caribbean that I was able to collect on another message board:

From Suekay:

"This must be a first!!
Last week I picked up a brochure in a Uk travel agency short edition showing Caribean Summer 2004. In it there is a deck plan of the Caribbean Princess. It appears to have an extra deck "Riviera" above the Aloha deck. The 12 Penthouse suites are at the centre surrounded by BB cabins. There are 2 Premium suites far forward on Lido deck. Mini suites are still on Dolphin deck and appear to have much larger balconies than on the Grand. BE and BF cabins on Emerald deck have disappeared to be replaced by "obstructed view" cabins with no balcony. BE, BF and BG are now the furthest forward cabins on Baja. Vista showlounge is now longer rows of seats, but is now seated in "islands" something like the Explores lounge. Horizon terrace has all but disappeared and there seems to be more tables inside. Any specific questions I'll try to answer
Most interesting is the fact that neither Golden Princess nor Caribbean Princess call at Costa Maya - both go to Ocho Rios instead"

Thanks to Suekay and I hope we can have a deck plan soon.
