We are on the Grandeur this March with stops in Cozumel, Progresso and Key West. We are taking our 6 year old daughter and 11 year old son. Hubby and Son did snorkling last year at 7 mile beach and loved it! Looking for good snorkling with a nice beach area for me and daughter. What would you do if you had kids and stopping at these ports? What is the deal now with Progresso? Are they recovered from the hurricane yet? We are overnight in Key West and would probably leave the kids in day care if we went out. Thanks in advance! ~Nan

I am going to those ports in Nov. (Thanksgiving) With a 7 yr old. We were in different ports this summer and she loved snorkeling. We brought our own gear and that made her very comfortable.

In Cozumel we are doing the swim with dolphins. We booked with Sherri at www.cozumelinsider.com. email me if this is not correct. She has an excellant web site that lists the beaches and their facilities.

Have fun

Of the ports you mentioned, we have only been to Cozumel with our kids. Your kids will have a great time! We rented a jeep in Cozumel and drove around the island... check out Chankanaab Park (headed south down the coast) $10 entrance fee. There is a national park with a lighthouse at the southern tip of the island, you can take a tour here, its 3 hours they said (we didnt have enough time because we wanted to make it all the way around to the ruins). The San Gervasio ruins are sort of in the middle of the island, no charge unless you pay for a tour guide. If I were to do this again, I would go the opposite way, head for the ruins first... circling around with Chankanaab last. I hear that dolphin swim is great for kids, but fills up fast so make arrangements ahead of time if you are interested. Enjoy your cruise!

At Cozumel, a stop at Chankannab Park sounds like a good idea for everyone. Taxi is about $10 each way with entry $10 pp. At Key West, take the Trolley tour or walk down Duval Street to the Farthest Point in the USA and the Closest Point to Cuba, return up the parallel street (I can't remember it's name where the Cuba market is located). Stop and climb up the Lighthouse stairs for a fabulous view. A visit to Hemingway's House will amuse the kids with all of the cats. Keep your eyes out for new information on Progresso or a replacement port.
Bon Voyage

Let me see if I get this right, round trip taxi to Chankaanab Park for 2 adult/2 kids would be $60.00? Wow! This is good to know in advance! I didn't know that a taxi would be so much, must be a long drive? I was thinking we only paid around $24.00/ round trip in Grand Caymen but I am not sure. The dolphin swim does sound wonderful. Would a person book online in advance or with the ship? Thanks for the responses and for the info about taxi $$ !! :) Nan

Not $60 just for the taxi..... $10 for the taxi (for all 4) and then $10 each to enter the park. Max of $60 TOTAL if you have to pay $10 for the taxi back to the ship. It isnt that far to the park, the southern pier is considerably closer. Now, there is a dolphin swim at this park, but the cost is separate... around $100pp.
