My fiance and I first cruise ever are booked on the caribe deck in the very front of the boat, could someone please help me out in telling me how the balcony rooms are i believe were in c104 or c108, going with another couple so i cant remember which room is ours. Also i have a few questions about the cruise itself. We are very excited about this vacation. Never cruised before , and i have been thoroughly researching all aspects, we are on the grand dec 7 to w. carib. Anyone if you could help, we know thst there are two formal nights, my fiance and i have decided with the other couple that we only want to do one formal night. Does the cruiseline get upset, if you are not doing 2, and if we dont where can we eat that we dont have to be dressed to the nines for?

Hi. We have been on the Grand Caribe Deck, but not those particular cabins - we prefer the back end of the ship. The balcony is big, maybe 9x9 or so. Partially exposed, but in your location, I wouldn't think you'd lack much privacy. The few times we've had a balcony on the Caribe, we hardly ever saw anyone else out on theirs.

If you only want to do one formal night, that's fine. You don't have to do any if you don't want to! There is always the Horizon Court or room service for alternate evening dining. Other evenings, you can dress more casually in the dining rooms. No jeans or shorts, but you can wear a casual dress or slacks & blouse.

The disco is great, but doesn't get going until after 11. There is lots to do (or nothing if that's what you want). The aft pool on the Aloha deck is a great place to hang out. Pools/hot tubs are open 24/7 and are freshwater.

We love the Grand Class ships. Only 6 weeks until the Golden...can't wait!

Kathy thank you for posting, i heard that they pull all the deck chairs and lounges at night, but you say you can use the pools and jacuzzis 24/7, i was hoping that this is the case since a 1am swim may be very romantic.. some say it is not good to be in the very front or the very back of the boat, we have never cruised so have nothing to compare.. how do you feel about cabin location.. our feeling is,, heck were not in Jersey :)

All the balcony cabins are the same, except for location and balcony size. You have the largest size balconies on Caribe, so I think you'll enjoy them!

If the 4 of you want to keep your cabins together, I'd recommend you tell your travel agent to mark your reservation "no upgrade." Princess does upgrade frequently, and you could end up on opposite ends of the ship.

The cabins directly above you will be able to see about half of your balcony, if they're standing at their railings, but if you want privacy, about 4' of the balcony closest to the cabin is fully covered and private.

Hi there,
My other posting didn't go thru. I 'm not a real computer whiz. Anyway, welcome to the Caribe deck crew. Jim from NC will email you with some info. We are in c242, c210 and c214. Its agroup of 6 of us celebrating a 40th BDay. Don't sweat formal night. We usually get dressed up for the cocktail party then change back after dinner. Thats one of the nice things about this personal choice dining too. You don't have to go to the formal dining room if you don't want to. Depending on what they are serving determines whether we go or not. Enjoy and and am looking forward to sailing with you on the7

mlzangel78 - they do put away most of the lounges by the Calypso pool, but there are usually some by the Neptune pool. They are close enough that you could move a couple of them if you want.

I love the BB category cabins. Depending on the direction and time of day, we can have a choice of sun or shade on our balcony.

As far as the motion goes...it doesn't bother us much. I never worried about getting a cabin mid ship on a low deck. We are out and about so much it probably won't make much difference since we wouldn't be in the cabin anyway! Mostly at night. If you worry about the motion, you should take dramamine or try the patch rather than not be prepared. I bring some each time we cruise and in 4 cruises I think I've only taken a total of 2 pills and only on days when the seas were really high. By the way, it seems worse if you lay down. Best bet is to keep drinking those frozen thingees and hope you will sway in the other direction to counteract the seasickness :)

You should have a great time! Be sure to watch the water on your return at the end of the cruise. We saw dozens of dolphins swimming along side the ship. It was so cool!

The Grand is not the smoothest riding ship, so if you don't like a lot of motion, get a cabin that is more mid-ship. The Caribe balconies are about double the size of the Aloha & Baja Deck balcony cabins.

We didn't dress formally one night on our last Grand Princess cruise. We all went to the Horizon Court and had THE BEST service! There were only about 25 people all together in there and the waitress overheard me talking about the apple pie. "I only like the crust," I said to someone my brother-in-law. The waitress disappeared and came back with 2 slices of apple pie, minus the apples! She dug them out herself! Another waiter that was hovering (in a good way) close to our table cut my sister's salad for her, as he noticed the pieces were a bit large. It was very intimate, quiet and a wonderful meal we'll never forget.

Go, don't worry about not dressing up and have a super time!
